Hi PROS Family,
I just wanted to say another huge thank you for matching me and Squish
(formerly Dusty, aka. Squash). It has been just over six months with him and
we are totally in love. Squish has certainly settled into his normal routine
of several walks a day - he used to be afraid of walking on grass - and now
loves romping through it with neighbor dogs. On weekends we always take him
with us when we go to the barn; Squish has an older, larger, four-legged,
equine brother, Creggan. They touch noses and say their hellos! Squish loves
his hikes up in La Honda where my horse is.
When we first got Squish he was a happy little pup and remains so, the first
month we had him he was a little lethargic and still thin from being rescued
(if you are familiar with Squish you know he went through a LOT!). My vet
advised that I keep him under 15lbs because of his arthritis - but he is not
skinny, he is svelte! I get compliments all the time about what a nice
looking pug he is.
Last week Squish was diagnosed with epilepsy, luckily his seizures are so
infrequent that he is able to stay off medication so that his liver remains
healthy. He is totally off other medications and is supplemented with
natural joint supplements that are working fantastically for his arthritis.
The epilepsy may attribute to his deafness as well. Being deaf hasn't slowed
him down at all, he learned the signal for sit - thanks to his foster moms
and their pugs, he isn't startled by anything, AND he doesn't bark at
anything!
We love our little pug, and will forever. He is silly and his favorite
things to do are, of course eating, rough-housing with his stuffed moose,
going on long adventures, dining out at Amigos Grille in Ladera, and
cuddling on the sofa with the cashmere blanket my mom hand made (he has
claimed it as his own). Again thank you for this wonderful little soul; our
little Squishward.
