Olie

Hi Jenna,

I was thinking of you as we celebrated Olie's tenth birthday today. I baked him crustless, sugar-free pumpkin custard and he just gobbled it right up. Wearing a party hat, not so thrilling for him.

Overall he's doing pretty well. I've met so many people with Pugs and they are always shocked at how old Olie is and that he's so active. He walks me every day and everyone we pass on the street comments on what a cutey he is. I took him to the annual Doggy Dash fundraiser that the SPCA has here every year, to try to socialize him with other dogs. I didn't take him on the 5K walk because I thought it would be too much for him, but I did enter him in the Pug Races. I would have been thrilled if he just crossed the finished line. When the lady walked up and handed me the 2nd place ribbon, I almost asked if she had the right dog.

His skin issues have been a constant battle. He's been on just about every kind of medication, anthistamines, antibiotics, ketaconazole, atopica, probiotics, yogurt, diet changes, etc. We'll just keep trying until we find what works. This week I've gone back to holistic methods, apple cider vinegar both topically and a teaspoon a day orally. I'll let you know if it works.

I occasionally browse through the Pug Rescue website and think maybe I should get Olie a friend to hang out with when we're not at home, but he's so spoiled and the center of our universe, I don't want him to think he's being bumped out of the number one position.

Take care, I hope all is well with you and your family.

Omar

omar.jpgI know it's been a long time since you've heard from us, and as you might have guessed it OMAR'S BIRTHDAY! A little update: I can't remember if I told you and I'm so sorry that I didn't, Omar had surgery on December nothing big no worries. Omar had some bad plaque build up so we took him to the ASPCA and he had an in and out surgery with a few teeth removed. It went without a hitch he did better than I did I'll tell you that. It was the worst feeling in the world to have my lovies in surgery and I hope I'll never have to do it again. the Vet tough me how to brush his teeth properly and things are going well in that department.
in other news in March we celebrated our 3rd year anniversary with Omar. Just thinking back on those first days with Omar and how well he has adjusted with us. Our family wouldn't be a family without our Omar.
he's maintained a good steady weight and no other health problems have arose.
I've placed some photos of Omar I hope you like them.
I hope all is well on your side and that your doggies are doing good too.
with love, Omar, Maritza and Brady
