Pugs Available for Adoption

We are pugs needing to be rescued because we have lost our homes! If you have love to give to any of us, please contact PROS. Thank you for looking at us and trying to help us find a home to call our own!

PROS especially needs to find homes for our older pugs. If you are looking for a mellow pal who wants to cuddle on the sofa rather than run laps around it, check them out!

Hi, my name is Brittany! I am a 1 3/4 yr. old black spayed female pug. I was surrendered when my owner became ill and could no longer care for me. I am very smart, and I know how to use a doggie door. I am house-trained and I know that is always a plus. I am good with other animals and I play very well with them. I also like cats, but if they run from me I think it is a game and I will chase them. I will also chase after those pesky squirrels in my foster mom's yard. I am in great shape; I weigh in at only 18 lbs. which is very good for a female pug. I am not sure why but I tend to gulp my food, and at times I can be food aggressive. I am beautiful and I have a charm that you just can't resist. I am current on my shots, I am micro-chipped, and I have no health issues. I know you will not be disappointed in me if you decided to adopt me and take me home with you forever. I am loving and loyal and probably a little spoiled. Brittany has cleared her medical and is now available for adoption.

Hi, my name is Garnet! Yes, just like the beautiful stone. I am a 3 to 5 yr. old spayed female fawn pug. I was found as a stray and taken to a shelter, where no one came to claim me. I was rescued by PROS and taken out of the shelter. I love playing with the other pugs in my foster home. I love to play with squeaky toys and nyla-bones. I do not like to get my feet wet, it feels very funny on my toes. I have a super great personality and sometimes I am a little wiggle worm. I am a very silly little girl. I have a skin condition which is healing very nicely at my foster home. I am getting special food, and medicated baths for my skin. I slip sometimes with my house-training, but that is being re-enforced by my foster mom. I am working very hard at becoming house-broken. I am updated on my shots and I am micro-chipped. If you are looking for that beautiful diamond in the rough, Garnet is the girl for you. She would be a warm, loving, and dedicated companion to add to your family. Garnet will be available for adoption once her medical clears.

Garnet sends pug hugs and Kisses to Janice and John Grover and their Pug pack for their donation to help pay her medical bills.

Hi, I'm Tarby! I am a 6 1/2 yr. old black spayed female pug. My dob is 5/2003. I was surrendered to PROS when my owner got transferred out of state and could not take me. I am just as sweet and charming as they come. I love people, other dogs, and children. I like women, but I tend to be partial to men. I really love my foster dad, and I just shiver with excitement when he comes home from work. I have so much love to give, and I really like planting kisses on you. I play well with the other dogs, I like to join in with a good game of tug-a-war if they start playing. I like to go on walks, and I enjoy a good tummy rub. I do like cats but if they run from me I will chase them. I have a mellow personality but I am not shy. I am well behaved when I play, and I play well with the other dogs. I don't have separation anxiety when you have to leave me. My foster mom is trying to teach me the doggie door and I am trying very hard to get it, I just don't understand the concept of that thing. She is also reinforcing my potty training, sometimes when we get moved around we get confused. The vacuum cleaner scares me alot, but I am up to date of all of my shots, and I am micro-chipped. Tarby has cleared her medical and is now available for adoption. Here we have another diamond in the rough. Tarby is a little Diva and would probably do best in a home where there is a male dog.
Hi, my name is Carson! I am a 5 yr. old neutered male black pug. I was surrendered to Pros because my owner was working extremely long hours and that left me alone all day, and she didn't think that was fair to me. I like sun bathing in the back yard, it feels oh so good, I like sleeping under the covers at night if you let me. I love all kinds of toys, but I prefer the soft ones, and I am really into playing tug-a-war. Sometimes I wake up early and want to eat, but then I will go back to bed for a while. I like to be taken on walks and enjoy checking out the surroundings. I really love being with my humans, and lounging on a comfortable pillow. I know commands like; sit, stay, heel and down. I ride really nice in a car, and I am great with other animals, and humans. I am having some potty training issues and those are being worked on and being reinforced by my foster family. I have some skin allergies; I am allergic to wheat, corn and soy products. Being kept away from those three items and being on special food, helps keep my skin in good condition. I am scared of the vacuum cleaner, and I do not like getting my feet wet. I tend to have a tiny bit of separation anxiety. I am current on my vaccinations, I am in good health and I am micro-chipped. If you have some time and patience to help me work on my potty training reinforcing, you will not be disappointed I will return the gratitude with more love, affection and faithfulness than you can ever imagine. Carson has cleared his medical and is now available for adoption.

Hi, my name is Rocky! I am a 13 yr. old neutered male fawn pug. I was surrendered when my owner was diagnosed with an illness and she could no longer care for me. No one else in the family could take me, so I was turned over to PROS. My hero's, for taking in an elderly man. Don't let my age fool you, I am in good health except that I have arthritis through out alot of my joints. I bet alot of you have arthritis also. I like to be rubbed down once a day it makes my arthritis feel better. It's like a mini massage. I am very good with other animals, children and adults. I had been living out side in a mountainous area, and I probably would not have made another winter. I am very gentle and loving, I was house-trained but when my owner took ill she would forget to let me outside to do my business. This confused me, so now my potty training is being worked on and being reinforced. I had also been taken to obedience school when I was younger. I am current on my shots and I am micro-chipped. I hope you will consider an older gentleman, I still have a few good years left and you will not be disappointed in me I promise. Rocky has cleared his medical and is now available for adoption.

Hi I'm Emerald, I am a spayed fawn 6 yr old female. I was a stray and ended up in the shelter. Since no one wanted to adopt me, I thought I was a goner; however, PROS came to the rescue. I'm a mess. I have heavy tartar on my teeth and a bad odor and a lot of missing hair as you can see from my picture. The vet says I have bacterial and yeast infections on my skin. I'm a feisty girl but that could be because when I was a stray I had to fiend for myself for food and to keep the big dogs away. I'm very smart and learned to go in and out the doggie door the first day. I like to play with fuzzy squeaky toys and play with my foster pugs. My foster mom said I'm a jewel in the rough but I won't be ready for adoption until my skin clears up and have my dental work completed. I'm on meds and medicated baths to clear the skin condition.

Update 2/6/10: I am recovering from my skin condition and my hair is growing back,

Emerald sends pug hugs and Kisses to Janice and John Grover and their Pug pack for their donation to help pay her medical bills.

Hi, My name is Kobi! I am a 5 to 6 yr. old fawn male neutered Pug. I was found wandering as a stray and taken to a shelter, where no one came to claim me except PROS. I have a little bit of arthritis in my knees, but I am an active boy and it does not slow me down. I am a happy boy, that's in good health with a very plush coat of fur. My foster moms let me stay in the office with everyone during the day, I greet everyone that comes and goes with great enthusiasm. I have a very good attitude and I am very friendly. I like playing outside especially on nice days. I am really good with other animals, children and people. I know how to sit on command, I love going on walks, and taking rides in the car. I am updated on my shots and I am micro-chipped. I am house-trained, but my foster mothers are re-enforcing it from time to time. Kobi has cleared his medical and is available for adoption. Kobi would do best in a home that does not have alot of stairs or no stairs due to his knees.

Hello there, I am Dexter! I am an 11 yr. old fawn neutered male pug. My owner passed away and my other owner could not care for me, so I was surrendered to PROS. I am so grateful that I was wanted by this rescue group. I am a large boy, weighing in at 24 lbs. not too large though. I tend to move slower than most pugs, but then again I am no spring chicken. Don't get me wrong I have some great years left. I am a gentle sweetheart that loves being around people. When I put on my best "feed me" face, I am too hard to resist. I live for food and treats, and naps of course. I love having my lower back scratched, it just feels so good like a small slice of heaven. I can fall asleep on any soft surface and I sleep like the dead. I do not snore or bark, and I am real good with other animals and children. I can be left alone for hours and not even have an accident. I like to go on short walks, and I am very curious about all that I see and smell. I am almost completely deaf but that does not hinder me in any fashion, oh and by the way I don't startle very easily either. I have one eye that needs a daily ointment placed in it to avoid any infection, I am not too sure about that green stuff you guys call grass; it feels funny on my feet. I am an easy going, slow moving, lover of a boy who wants nothing more than to make you happy with my love. I am updated on my shots and I am micro-chipped. Dexter will be available for adoption once his medical clears.

Update 12/04/09: Dexter has had his medical and is now available for adoption. His eye infection is 100% gone, the ointment no longer necessary

Howdy, my name is Tex! Nope I am not a cowboy, I am a 6 yr. old fawn neutered male pug. My owner passed away and no one else in the family could take me, so I was surrendered to PROS. I am a wonderful love-able dog, with an extra toe on each back paw. Strange you say, no I think it makes me extra special. I am sweet and mellow, I like to take my naps preferably on your lap. At night I like sleeping under the covers with you, except I tend to be a bed hog. I am really good with other dogs and cats. My previous owner never let me outside, so I was not properly house-trained. My foster mom is working very hard at house-training me, but for the most part I wear a belly band. This keeps me from having accidents in the house. I do not know if I can become completely house-trained but I am trying very hard, since it was not reinforced most of my life. I am updated on all my shots, I am in very good health and I am micro-chipped. Tex will be available for adoption once his medical clears.

Hi, my name is Tinta! I am an 8 yr. old spayed female black pug. I was surrendered to PROS because my family was transferred over seas and could not take me with them. I am a healthy happy 8 yr. old, I enjoy watching television and I bark at animal programs and the theme song to law and order. For some reason that theme song just goes right up my spine, some of you know what I'm talking about, right? I really like playing tug-of-war and cuddling on your lap. Meal time is one of my favorite times, watch out food here I come. I eat my food as if it is my last meal; I call it eager enthusiasm. I am good with other animals and children, and I am house-trained. I also come with my own toys and blanket. I am current on my shots and I am micro-chipped.

Update 11/11/09: Tinta has been diagnosed with hind quarter weakness and she has become stool incontinent.

Hello, my name is Gypsy! I am a 5 to 6 yr. old tiny and petite spayed fawn female pug. I was surrendered to PROS because my owners could no longer take care of me. I virtually lived outside for 5 of those years. My health as well as my normal social habits suffered due to the lack of attention. I have been extremely lucky to be placed with such a loving and caring foster home. I was not house-trained nor leash-trained both are being worked on and I am doing my best to please my foster mom. I have been neglected for so long, that I give lots of kisses. I am just full of affection and I love being inside and following you around or cuddling on your lap. I lost some of the vision in one of my eyes due to an eye injury that had gone untreated. I am good with other animals, children and adults. I enjoy going on walks and am learning to walk properly on my leash. I discovered toys and boy do I just love them, who knew a toy could be that much fun. I know I will get better. I am current on my shots, and I am micro-chipped.

Update 11/3/09: Gypsy is available for adoption.

Hi my name is Niles! I'm a very sweet 4-5 yr old neutered fawn male pug. I was rescued from the Tehama Country Animal Shelter by PROS. My right hind leg was injured so badly that it could not be saved and had to be amputated. I also had two mast cell tumors that needed to be removed. I have healed nicely from my amputation surgery and I am learning to play again with the other pugs in my foster home. I have adjusted nicely to walking with my three legs, I can go up and down the stairs with no problem. I love to go on walks; I have great balance and maneuver very well. The only thing that scares me is riding in the car, I do not know why but it just scares the bejebbies out of me. I would feel more comfortable if when riding I was put into a crate. I truly love other animals, children and especially humans. I really adore those humans. I am house-trained and I know how to use a dogie door, I love chewing on my nylabones, and I am not food or toy aggressive. I am updated on my vaccinations and I am micro-chipped. I have a fantabulous personality and would make an overall excellent family dog if you would just give a three legged pug a second look over. I know you will not be disappointed in me; I can keep up with the best of them. Niles has cleared his medical and is now available for adoption.

Special Needs:

Hi I'm Yodee! I am a 1 and 1/2 yr. old neutered male fawn pug. Surrendered because my owner could no longer care for me. Unfortunately I had been kept outside for quite some time and was neglected. I had some neurological damage to my legs. My paws tend to drag from time to time, but this does not slow me down. My tongue hangs out of my mouth a bit, also due to medical neglect, but most people find it rather endearing. I had a bad abscess to my lower left jaw and an infected tooth on the right jaw, which was treated and healed nicely. On the up side, I am as cute as can be. I'm very active, loving, and extremely loyal. I want to be in your lap, and just be held. I am very good with other dogs, cats and children. I have a gentle, kind and loving heart. I was not house-trained and my foster mom has been working diligently to get me trained. She says that I am doing well at my potty training, and I am trying very hard to please her. I like to go for short walks, and I listen very well. I am updated on my shots and I am micro-chipped. In my new foster home all the other dogs and cats really like me and have accepted me. I am so grateful that PROS saved me from the life I previously had. This is a beautiful, loving little man who deserves a good warm loving and attentive home. Please consider this beautiful little man, he has a face that will melt your heart. Yodee has cleared his medical and is now available for adoption.

Upeate 2/3/10: Yodee is pending adoption.

PROS appreciates any donations and or contributions to help us with Yodee's medical bills.

Hi, my name is Noah! I am a 10 yr. old neutered male fawn pug with gray highlights. I was found roaming the streets and was taken to the Fremont Shelter, where I was rescued by PROS. I had my medical checkup and the vet found skin infections that will clear up with medication, and some benign tumors that will be removed. I am very friendly and have some frisky spunk in my personality. I am afraid to be picked up and carried; possibly I may have been dropped at one time. I like and am good with other animals, dogs, and children. Once my medical clears I will be available for adoption. Please consider giving an older but spunky pug (me) a forever home.

Update 12/13/09: Noah has passed his medical and is available for adoption.

Hi, my name is Clancy! I am they believe between 5 and 8 yrs. of age, neutered male fawn pug. I was brought in to the Sonoma shelter as a stray, no other information is known about me. I am very friendly and active. I walk good on a leash, and I love to go for rides in the car. I tend to be a virtual shadow, and will follow you every where. I am good with other animals, I like attention and I am really happy to be around people. I am a very gentle and quiet boy. I have a condition called dry eye, so I need daily ointment, and I have very limited eye sight. I become confident and comfortable once I am familiar with new surroundings. It just takes me a little bit to figure out where everything is due to my limited vision. I am updated on my shots, and I am micro-chipped.

Update 12/13/09: Clancy has cleared his medical and is available for adoption.

Hi my name is Grady, I am a 3 yr. old neutered fawn male pug, I was surrendered because my owners could no longer take care of me. I just had emergency surgery for kidney stones, a liver shunt, and a foreign object in my stomach. I have a long road of recovery ahead of me, and I will be in foster care for at least 6 months while I rehab. I am house trained and crate trained, I am good with other animals. I am a real love a bug. I am micro-chipped, and updated on all my shots. Grady will be available for adoption once his medical clears.

Update 9/22/09: Grady has been diagnosed with bladder stones. He will not be available for adoption until he has recovered from the surgery.

Update 2/6/10: Grady has recovered from his surgery and is available for adoption.

Grady and PROS sends pug hug and kisses to Melanie Cary for her donation to help pay Grady's medical bills.

Grady and PROS send pug hug and kisses to Linda Parena and Richard Linton for their donation to help pay Grady's medical bills.

PROS would greatly appreciate any donations to help pay for Grady’s medical expenses.

Hi, my name is Bentley. I am a 9 1/2 yr. old neutered male fawn pug. I was surrendered because my owner could no longer take care of me and my brother; (Zack). I am micro-chipped, updated on my shots, and in very good health. I might mention that I am house trained, that's a plus. I really like other dogs, cats and children. I am active, and happy all the time, I'm what you would call a party boy. When you talk to me, I get so excited and just wag that curly Q tail of mine, and I have this silly little grin on my face. I do like to play with my stuffed toys they are my buddies. I like treats and meal time those are one of my favorite parts of the day. I ride good in the car, but don't care much for walking. I will walk but I go slow and then it's not long before I'm ready to head back home. I will sit next to you if you want me to, but I really love sleeping in my cuddle bed with my big pillow. I also like to steal all the attention, I want it all for myself but I will share nicely.

Update 5/24/09: Bentley's medical has cleared and he is available for adoption.
