Happy Endings - Dino
Hi
Guys,
I saw the website and wanted you to know that Dino, who is now Booger (my daughter’s idea), is doing really well. He tested negative for demodex mites last week, so he has one more month of dips and then we’re done. His nose fold which was infected is now black and velvety and his ear infections are gone! We joke that only the pug gets a spa treatment (demodex dip) every other week. And of course, they all love him at the vet and he loves to go there.
We’ve been very strict with him and he only gets to sleep on my daughter’s bed. He can only eat premium food. And he can only sit on the furniture if it’s Sunday (or Monday, or Tuesday, etc.). In other words, he’s a very spoiled pug. He did complete his dog training and will sit and down and turn in circles, but you better have that treat ready when he’s done or you are subjected to disappointed pug face.
Booger and our other dog, Kona, a 60 pound, one-eyed wonder mutt, had one serious disagreement and now they chase each other around the yard until they flop on the ground and pant like they’re about to explode. They also play alligator face and although I keep worrying they’ll hurt each other, there has been no bloodshed. Booger and the cats have established a détente and life has settle into a comfortable pattern with two dogs.
Even though Booger is officially my daughter’s dog, he’s worming (no pun) his way into my heart. I still think he’s one of the funniest looking dogs I’ve ever seen, but he’s got a big heart and infectious enthusiasm for life. Thanks for giving us a chance to know what life with a pug is like. As another pug owner I know says, “They’re really aliens, not really dogs. They aren’t like any other dog I’ve ever had.” Maybe Men In Black (which we just rewatched tonight) was right.
Regards,
Mary McCuistion
