62 Ways to Help Pug Rescue Without Adopting
or Fostering
We always need volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering,
please fill out and submit the Membership
Application.
- Donate money
- Become a member ($25.00 per year
or $150 per lifetime).
- Sponsor a hospice pug.
- When celebrating a birthday, anniversary or other event, ask
your friends and family to make a donation to PROS in your name
instead of getting you a present.
- Shop online through iGive.com
with PROS designated as your favorite cause.
- Donate a collar, harnesses or leash.
- Donate a dog bed or large pillow for a foster pug to snuggle
on.
- Donate a soft toy, Kong, Booda bone, Buster Cube or other "pug
friendly" toy.
- Donate a crate, x-pens or baby gates.
- Donate some treats or a bag of premium dog food.
- Groom a dog when it comes in to rescue.
- Donate some grooming supplies (shampoos, combs, conditioners,
etc.).
- Periodically check pounds or shelters for pugs or pug mixes.
- Check the newspaper for "Free to Good Home" and "Found"
Pug ads and let rescue know about them.
- Answer the phone voice mail messages for a few days or a month.
- Provide local vet clinics with contact information for pug rescue.
- Donate stamps.
- Donate long distance calling cards.
- Attend public education days and other outreach events with
the rescue group and try to educate people on responsible pet
ownership, the Pug breed and about rescue.
- Donate a gift certificate to a pet supply store.
- Donate a raffle item or auction items for fundraising.
- Make a quilt or other special item that can be used for a raffle
or auction.
- Auction something on EBay or other auction site with the proceeds
going to rescue (usually you get higher bids if people know its
for rescue).
- Donate flea control products (Advantage, Frontline, etc.).
- Donate heartworm pills.
- Donate medicines that you no longer use for your dog.
- Write an article for the newsletter.
- Watch a foster family's dog(s) for a few days or weeks when
the foster family goes on vacation.
- Contact companies to donate items for "adoption packages"
for new adopters.
- Conduct a home visit or accompany a rescue person on the home
visit.
- Have a yard sale and donate the money to rescue.
- Be the rescue contact in your area.
- When a store is having really good sales on something the rescue
group could use, let them know about it.
- Talk to all your friends and coworkers about adopting and fostering
Pugs.
- Donate vet services, a spay or neuter or some vaccinations each
year.
- Talk to vets to encourage them to offer discounts on rescue.
- Write a column for your local newspaper or club newsletter about
dogs looking for homes or ways to help rescue.
- Help organize and run fundraising events.
- Donate a bottle of Simple Solution, Nature's Miracle or other
cleaning products.
- Take pictures or videos of PROS fundraising events.
- Pay the cost of taking a dog to obedience class and take it
to class.
- Offer to test the foster dog with cats.
- Pay for the dog to be groomed or take the dog to a Do It Yourself
Grooming place.
- Pay a house-cleaning service to do the spring cleaning for someone
who fosters dogs all the time.
- Lend your artistic talents to PROS newsletter, fundraising ideas,
T-shirt designs.
- Donate printer paper, colored paper for newsletters and flyers
or envelopes.
- Go with a rescue person to the vet if a foster dog needs to
be euthanized.
- Donate frequent flyer miles.
- Go to local businesses and solicit donations for a fundraising
event.
- Offer to feed and/or walk a foster's dog(s) when they are going
to be away from the house for long hours.
- Educate people you meet about the dire need to spay and neuter.
- Donate a coupon for a free car wash or inside cleaning of a
vehicle.
- Donate prepaid gasoline cards.
- If you are a breeder, donate a small percentage of the sale
of each pup to rescue.
- Buy two of those really neat dog-items you "have to have"
and donate one to rescue.
- Provide in your will to cover the cost of caring for your dogs
after you are gone - so rescue won't have to.
- Make a bequest in your will to P.R.O.S.
- Donate your professional services as an accountant, printer
or other business services.
- Donate the use of a vehicle if you own a car dealership.
- Donate a cell phone (and cover costs for any calls or buy a
prepaid card) to those who transport dogs.
- Talk to your children's class or service group (Scouts, etc.)
about responsible pet ownership.
- Organize a "Loose Change Drive" or "Penny Pitch"
and get coworkers, friends and neighbors to donate all their loose
change to the rescue group.
