Tinta_1009.jpg Tinta passed over the Rainbow Bridge on January 16, 2012. She will be missed by all of PROS.

fubar.jpgFu crossed the Rainbow Bridge at his loving foster dad's home on 1/8/2012. He is missed by his foster dad and all of PROS.

jack_2012.JPGJack passed away Friday December 23, 2011. we adopted him from PROS when he was a pup, around 9 months old. He was nearly 11 when he passed. Much too young. He was always full of life, even while his health was failing. He will always have a place of honor in this house.

pebbles_2011.JPGI am writing this with many tears falling. Our sweet senior pug "Pebbles" crossed over rainbow bridge on December 1st. We adopted her when she was 12yrs. old and she was with us 5 years. She was a tough old gal and took command of the kitchen at feeding time.

Good Bye Pebbles. Give Gena a pug kiss when you see her.

Linda and Jeff Bodwin

Duke_2011b.jpgBecause we loved him so much, we had to let him go. Our little man Duke crossed the rainbow bridge today.

He was 14 years old, deaf, blind, losing his sense of smell and taste. He stopped eating except for a few bites of jerky treats, watermelon, kettlecorn and Thanksgiving yams. Our handsome lad was so precious to us and such a good boy. I, especially, will miss his warm body cuddling next to mine at nights and the sweet little kisses he gave me checking to make sure I am still there.

Duke, we will never forget you and will love you forever.
Sadly,

Sunny_2011.jpg

One month ago we lost Sunny, our fifth rescue pug at 8 years of age. She was only with us 2 years but it felt like we had her her whole life. She got sick with SARDS and went blind about a year ago, she never got used to it and it cut her life short. She was very sweet and much loved by us and her rescue brother, Trevor, and everyone who met her. She'll be forever missed.

Dan, Gary, and Trevor

Boston.JPG We have a very sad story to share with you; it is a short story of a little pug named Boston. Boston was a 2 - 3 year old, fawn male pug. He was surrendered to the shelter because he had some behaviour problems that his owner couldn't deal with. We were asked to take him in and quickly made arrangements. His foster home was ready and we even had a neuter appointment scheduled for him at the vet. Unfortunately, no one at the shelter realized how poor Boston's health was. Our volunteer was 10 minutes from the shelter when we were notified that Boston passed away. Lab results indicate he had Parvo. We regret that we did not have the opportunity to change Boston's life sooner. He will always be a PROS pug in our books. RIP Boston.

Coco_2011-RB.JPG It is with heavy heart that I wish to inform you that Coco, the male fawn that I adopted from your organization in Feb. of 1995, passed away last week. I guess he was around 12-13 yrs.old. He had slowed down a lot because of catarract on both eyes and the vet said that he was loosing sensation in his back leg. I took him to the vet that morning and after some tests and x-rays the vet told me that he had and infection and gave him a shot and some antibiotics to take at home. That night he died in his sleep.

I guess the stress wore him out. If you have a young male available for adoption, please let me know.

Merry_Rainbow Bridge_2011.JPGMimi is the name I gave to hospice pug "Merry." I miss her so much. She was my little buddy and her passing was a complete shock. I'm still looking for her on my bed and in the house, still thinking of her food bowl and where is my little wiggly sweetheart...Kris Kroner

Merry came to PROS as a 7 yr. old tiny fawn female pug. She was found as a stray and taken to a shelter, where she was rescued by PROS. She was in horrible shape: it appears whoever had her used me as a breeding machine. She must have been kept in a cage, because she didn't like being put once she had a tast of her new found freedom. She could use a doggy door and was house trained. Merry had a severe left eye injury when she was found and the vet tried but could not save her eye. Merry also had an ulceration on her right eye requiring medicine. Through generous donations, Merry was able to have dental work and palate surgery, which greatly increased her quality of life. Merry was also grateful to receive spay surgery. Merry was a PROS retirement pug since March 2009 and she was deeply loved by her foster family.
Peg_2011-RB.jpg It is with a very heavy heart that I write this note. On June 4th of this year we helped out beloved Peg cross the rainbow bridge. Her health was far from good and we wanted to keep her from suffering. We LOVED her soooooo much and a piece of my heart is missing but we know she is up and running again with her fellow Pug friends.

Thank you so much for what you do to help the needy Pugs. She was our first attempt at fostering and I know we failed miseriably (I think I called you the second day we had her to see about adopting her) She brought so many smiles to our faces and I truly miss hearing her grunt her way down the hall to come lay by my side. One of her many beds still holds her place next to my desk as that was her place, at my side. She will forever be in our hearts and we will be forever grateful that you gave us the chance to be loved by her.

Sincerely, Laurie and Adam Cowhig Buford T. Justice, Bambi, Pearly, Miss Lacy Pug and Our Dearest Peg who has crossed the Rainbow

bubbles2010_02.jpgBubbles crossed the bridge July 23rd, 2011 and was 16 or 17 years old. She had a long life while she was with PROS. She is missed by all of us, especially her foster family.

Rocky - obit-2011.jpgMy husband and I made the hard decision to send our second pug, Rocky, over the Rainbow Bridge today (June 11, 2011). She had arthritis and fused vertebra and had trouble moving around and getting up. Our hearts would break when she struggled to get to her feet, and we knew her time had come. It was a hard decision and she fought until the end. We were with her and held her until she left us. I will always remember how she would wait for me at the top of the steps or sit by the front door waiting for my return, how she would always nap by my feet, and how she had so much heart in that little body of hers. It's like her body gave out before her heart did. My husband will remember how she would howl for me when I wasn't around and how she was like a grizzly bear hiding inside of a pug's body. Our beautiful Rocky just had so much character, and she will truly be missed. We feel better knowing that, just like our other pug, Buster Sue, Rocky left the world knowing that we loved her and that she will no longer be in any discomfort. Again, we would like to thank Pug PROS for rescuing her, and Molly at Pooches' Playtime for fostering her before she came to her retirement home with us. We will always remember our pretty girl! We love you, Rocky!!

Chubby_2011-RB.JPGI wanted to let you know that we'll be sending in a donation to PROS soon in memory of our oldest pug Chubby, whom we had to put to sleep recently. She was 13 1/2 and had a huge tumor that was bleeding internally. We didn't even know she had it as there were no symptoms until she went into shock from massive blood loss. It has just broken my heart. She was our very first pug and my soul-mate. Thank goodness I have my other six to take care of or I would just be crying all day long. I know Chubby is flying around on angel wings over the Rainbow Bridge...probably looks like a happy little peanut zipping through the clouds!

I'm attaching a picture of Chubby taken on her last weekend. Next to her is Taffy, with our other girl Ame-chan behind her. Taffy is thriving...she's turning into a real cuddler and getting ever more beautiful as she matures. She'll be 3 this October.

Take care and lots of love from all of us, Rebecca, Doug, Fuzzy, Ame-chan, Taffy, Buddy, Dr. John and Dinky

Pola_RB_2011.JPGMy sweet little Pola, friend and companion, crossed the Rainbow Bridge Friday, June 24, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. Pola was a teacher who arrived in the guise of a pug! This senior little girl was a wise and gentle soul who possessed a seemingly endless supply of spirit and spunk. She did so wonderfully well during these past 10 months of treatments to battle her chronic kidney disease, but her decline began to set in just a few weeks ago. Though I was blessed with Pola for just under two years, having adopted her on what I called lucky-7-11(09), I began to realize as the months rolled by that she was teaching me things I needed to learn -- about the determination of spirit, the qualities of compassion and patience (when we took our little walks daily, we were on 'Pola time'), learning to live the concept of being in the now, in the moment . . . Pola always stopped to smell the roses. This is my favorite photo of Pola -- taken the day I picked her up at her foster home -- that single moment illuminated the very essence of Pola's spirit -- a sweet little pug with the heart of a lion. Farewell, Little Friend! We will miss you . . . until we meet again . . . Love Always, Mommy & Magick

Gus_2011_Memorial.jpgToday we said goodbye to our beloved, Gus, who was diagnosed with untreatable cancer that had spread. He was one month shy of 14. He had stopped eating, and told us it was time to let him go. He was our first of 4 rescue pugs from PugPROS and we had been his "forever home" for 9 years. We have been blessed to have had him in our family and will miss him sorely. Carol Sue

Velvet_2C.jpgToday, May 31, 2011, a beloved member of our family, Velvet, crossed over the rainbow bridge. She was 14 years old and was a member of our family for 7 years. She was a wonderful loving companion and gave kisses freely to her mom and dad. She was the leader of our pug pack and kept her sisters and brothers in line. She was the hall monitor. It was tearful goodbye as she showed her love to the very last minutes of her life. She is now in God's home and free from pain and with her sisters and brothers who preceded her. Velvet, we will love you forever. Mom (Jan) and Dad (John)

BusterSue.jpgMy husband and I decided that it was time for our pug, Buster Sue, to go over the rainbow bridge today (May 28, 2011). We affectionately called her Bear Bear or Baroness. Bear Bear really began to struggle with her collapsed trachea and her spreading tumors, and we knew it was time; she just looked tired. Though it was extremely emotional for us, we were with her right up until the end. We wanted her to know that we loved her and cared about her. I will always remember how she was my yoga buddy, how she loved her stroller rides, and how she would just look up at me with those big pug eyes and welcome me home. She had a very independent personality which was amazing, but at times tested my patience. My husband will remember how she always took her time to find just the right spot to go the bathroom even if it meant staying outside with her for an extra few minutes...even in the rain, and how she was very timid and apprehensive at first and didn't want him to rub her belly. She grew to love being held like a baby and given belly rubs. We both are so happy to have given Bear Bear a relaxing and fun retirement home.

We would like to thank Pug PROS for rescuing her, and Molly at Pooches' Playtime for fostering her before she came to her forever home with us. She will always be loved and missed. We love you Bear!!

--Debbie and Cameron (and Rocky and Bernie, her pug companions)

Haileypic.jpgPROS took Hailey in on 4/25 from a lady who was moving and didn't want her. This little 7 month old little girl had recovered from Parvo in Feb but was very ill. We took her in but found out she was anemic and in kidney failure. The vet said it was a genetic condition. Hailey crossed the bridge today 4/26 as there was nothing that could be done for her. Bless you little angel.

Lola_0809.jpg Sweet hospice pug Lola crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 4/2/11. She was loved by her foster family and all of PROS.

Frannie_0110.jpg Frannie crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 3/10/11. She is greatly missed by her foster family and all those with PROS.

It is with much sadness that Moogie crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 3/5/11. Moogie's multiple health issues were just too much for her little body. She will be missed by her foster family and all of PROS. Thank you to Monique von Sivers for her donation towards Moogie's care and comfort. ♥

Loving and Letting Go Of Our Senior Rescues
I have a whole house of pugs but the seniors are my favorites. I usually foster the older pugs; I ask for the ones that are 10 years old and up. Kazzie was surrendered to PROS after her owner became to ill to care for her. I picked her up from Gena on Thanksgiving weekend after a dog show. She struck me as being a delicate little girl. She adjusted to life easily at my house with the other pugs. She was as quiet as a mouse unless she felt lost and then she would let out the most amazing howl. She was never a bother and never complained. She was very picky about her food. She would turn her nose up to kibble and canned food but would beg for whatever I was eating. I gave in and would add ham and other goodies to her food. I had the feeling that something was wrong when she would only eat straight chicken for me. I then noticed the telltale sign of a sick dog. I see enough dying dogs to have the intuition to when the end is near. Sure enough my suspicions were confirmed when I preformed her blood-work. Over the next 48 hours I saw the life leave her sweet face. I knew that she was suffering and the kindest thing was to let her go peacefully. It is never easy to euthanize a dog and it is especially hard when it is your own dog. I feel honored to have known and cared for Kazzie in the short amount of time that I did. I will always be willing to open my home to another senior pug.

Mary Jane_1210.jpg

On Dec 23, 2010 a very special little girl named Mary Jane came to me from the Martinez shelter. She was found as a stray with a ratty Xmas sweater on at night in the dark and the cold. Thin, missing fur with an arched spine she was sweet and loved giving kisses. We all tried so hard to save her but the infection in her spine went into her brain and she started having seizures. On Jan 4, 2011 she just quietly slipped away. Someone did not care for her at all but I did and for 2 weeks she had love, good food and a lap. Sleep tight sweet girl and remember you were loved. Gena Austin

katie.jpg

Beloved Katie, January 30, 1996 - November 23, 2010
Katie became very sick the last few days. When she couldn't walk without falling, couldn't go pee, and, most importantly, lost her enthusiasm for food, we knew it was time to let her go. She left this world quietly and in peace.
Our hearts are broken. We will love you always.

Things Katie taught us:
- No matter what age, you can always learn new things (like how to hook your front paws over the lip of the garbage can so you can "see" what is being thrown in)
- With a little time, patience, and a willingness to change, we can all become better pugs. (Katie started out life a scared-y cat. She then decided that the best defense was a good offense and she became a barker. In the second half of her life, she was a sweet pug who loved everyone and wasn't afraid of anything.)
- Always try new things by eating the piece whole and with enthusiasm - you can always spit it out later.
- Wake up every day happy and excited to eat.
- Sit up very straight and smile when you are asking someone for something.
- To the best of your ability, keep the people you love close to you at all times: Even if this means you have to follow them around.
- When arriving at the beach, the first thing to do is to spread your toes wide and run in circles.
- Do everything in life to the fullest: when you eat, eat with gusto, when you sleep, sleep deeply, when you love, love fully.
- Go for a daily walk - it is good for the heart and for the soul.
- Even when you can't see, can't hear, and have arthritis in your back; every day is still a good day.
- Try to find the positive in every situation. (Katie had to wear an Elizabethan collar one time. We thought she would hate it - but no, Katie actually thought she was Queen Elizabeth and paraded around holding her head high and waving at her subjects.)
- Even when our black hair (or face) becomes grey, we are still just as beautiful if not more so.
- When you first encounter a friend or loved one, always show them or tell them you are happy to see them.
Katie was a very wise pug.

Rex2.jpg

Tiffanie and I wanted to let you know that we had to put Rex down this morning. He appeared to have had a stroke and we needed to let him go. We were blessed to have him with us and he was adored by all our clients as well. We will miss him dearly but know he lived a great life in his 17 years on earth. He joins the rest of the kids over the rainbow bridge.
Love you old man,
Kris and Tiffanie

Buster2010.jpg

It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them.
And every new dog that comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart.
If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog and I will become as generous and loving as they are.

Buster was one of our Retirement Pugs and he went to the Rainbow Bridge on November 9, 2010. I love you Buster and always will. I have no words to describe how lost I feel after losing you but I will remember you always. Love your mom. Gena.

teddy.jpg

My name is Teddy. I am a very mellow 13 year old pug, with one eye and an adorable face. I have a unique situation, where I have developed severe separation anxiety since my best pug girlfriend went over the rainbow bridge a year ago. I was so unhappy when my mom went to work, that I howled almost the whole time. I have been taking Prozac since November 2009, but it has not calmed me down enough for me to feel comfortable being alone. Even when I go with my mom on errands in the car, I had begun to howl. So now I'm in a forever foster home where someone is home almost all the time and I'm a much happier Pug.

Thank you to Sonja Simmons for sponsoring me.

Teddy went to the Rainbow Bridge on October 14, 2010. He is missed by his foster parents and all of PROS.

Mac_0707.jpg

Mac is a 15 yr old fawn male pug who was a stray and ended up in a shelter. Mac loves his foster mom's lap and although deaf and blind he knows his home and yard. He's getting old and doesn't walk around quite as much as he used to but he comes alive at mealtimes. Mac gets along well with all the other pugs in his foster home but sometimes wishes his young brother Barney would fall into a big black hole. Mac has been a PROS Pug since July 2007.

Mac went to the Rainbow Bridge on October 14, 2010. He is missed greatly by all of PROS and his mom.

polly.jpg

I adopted a 10-12 year old pug named Polly from PROS in November 2007. She had been treated for an advanced case of heartworm and had a damaged heart and collapsing trachea when I adopted her. She was a friend to me when I really needed a friend and I provided a home for her that I believe she was happy in. She passed away quietly in her sleep on August 29, 2010. She had gotten weaker and weaker and could no longer walk or go to the bathroom by herself but, she still liked to eat and she went out on walks and to work with me in her pet stroller. She was a joy to have and life is not the same without her.   Thank you, Kate T

Marcie_0608.jpg
Hi I'm Marcie, an older black female pug from a shelter. I came into Rescue with flea dermatitis, mammary tumors and wasn't spayed. I'm active and can be an escape artist. I also get along with the other pugs in my foster home.

<p>Marcie and PROS send hugs and kisses to Delmar Orrell and Alfred
for their donation, in memory of Miss Sally Bobbins, to help pay
her medical bills. Thank you Delmar and Alfred.</p>
<P>Marcie crossed over the Rainbow Bridge this evening, September 6, 2010. We think that her heart just gave out. She was about 12-14 years old. You will be missed Marcie!

DJ_0708.jpg
DJ was an 11 to 12 year old pug mix, who lost his home after his owner died. Thank you to Delmar Orrell and Alfred for their donation, in memory of Miss Sally Bobbins, to help pay for DJ's medical bills.

DJ passed over the Rainbow Bridge on August 29. He will be missed by his foster family and all of PROS.

dixie.jpg
Dixie was a sad little pug that came into rescue from Fremont Animal Control in mid August. She was found abandoned at an extended stay motel after her owners had checked out, and they never came to claim her when contacted. Starved to nearly a skeleton and dehydrated, she spent a night in intensive care on IV fluids. Dixie had a host of problems stemming from neglect including patches of missing fur, animal bites on her ear and leg, dirty wounds, skin, eye and ear infections and was mostly blind and deaf.

Dixie passed away on 9/17/10 in her sleep. She had been going downhill and losing weight and her physical ailments were just too much for her little 10 pound body. Rest in peace now, little Dixie. Your foster mom misses you so much and so do Evie and Vivian. Thank you to all our supporters who kindly kept her in their thoughts and well wishes. Thank you to Mary Bova for her generous donation for Dixie's care and comfort.

rocko.jpg
It is with great sadness we share the news that our beloved Rocko crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on May 30, 2010. He passed quietly in his sleep. Although he was 17 years old, he always thought he was still a puppy. He gave us 8 years of love and enjoyment. He was our second adoption from PROS.

He never saw a hand he didn't think should be petting him. He shared his smile and love with everyone he met. There is a great loneliness since he left us. He is missed by our entire family. There is comfort in the thought that is with his step brother Dewey, step sisters Joy and Blondie, his hospice foster sisters Lindy and Elsie.

Rocko, we will love you forever. Mom and Dad and your pug family AKA Jan, John, Velvet, Timmy and Mocha Grover.

noah.jpg

With sadness we say goodbye to our dear sweet little Noah. We could tell the minute we fostered him that growing up he had a very hard life. He was so appreciative of love and affection; he would howl at us to show his thanks for us returning home to him. His occasional crossed eyes would look and stare at us to make sure we were still close by. His little body was so compromised during his life that he could not fight off those bad cancer cells any longer. It is good to know he is now across that rainbow bridge and pain free and surrounded with love from his sister Yodamae and brothers Pocho and Benji.

felix2.jpg felix1.jpg

We lost our precious "little man" Felix Han-Wesselmann on Wednesday, December 9, 2009. Felix came to us as a foster dog from Pug PROSin June of 2007, Given that our wedding was less than three months away, our plan was to foster a small dog that, in theory, would be an easy in-and-out, then we could focus on our wedding. But physically, Felixwas a mess: trouble breathing due to an elongated palate, his right eyeball ruptured and needing to be removed, not neutered, way too scrawny, and possessingan extra, upside- down dewclaw on each back paw. In spite of all this, he had enough attitude packed into that 12-pound frame to supply of pack of wolves. Little did we know at that time the impact he would have on our lives. Thanks to the generous support of Pug PROS, Felix endured three surgeries that summer, put on some weight, and fit right into our family.

In November of 2007 Felix was finally pronounced healthy enough to be adopted, and in December his would-be forever home was found. By this timeFelix had been with us for six months, far longer than any previous rescue dog, had been a member of our wedding party, endured all those surgeries, and had developed an unprecedented bond with Kirby and with us. Long story short, we became what are lovingly known in the rescue community as "foster failures." Emotionally exhausted but incredibly relieved, we drove back to San Francisco as a confirmed family of four.

Felix welcomed a (human) baby sister, our daughter Hana, in July 2009, and what a devoted big brother he turned out to be. Neither words nor pictures -you really had to be there -can do justice to the incredible concern Felix showed for his baby sister the first time he heard her cry...and many times thereafter. From his body language to his sadgrowl to the expression on his face, Felix's entire being oozed compassion.

Felix showed small signs of illness on December 1,2009, and began showing signs of serious health problems on December 3. He also kept giving us reasons to believe full recoverywas possible. As always, he was a trooper through it all and did his best to amaze and comfort us in spite of his own discomfort and fear. He spared us the heart-wrenching decision to euthanize, showing a remarkable resurgence just before a this-may-be-it vet appointment. He hung in there for another half-day, enduring almost hourly seizures and finally expiring -possibly from a heart attack -in the comfort of our bed during the early morning hours.

Weare devastated by this loss and, at the same time, we are comforted by the knowledge that his passing was quick and that little Hana is too young to feel the impact of this loss yet old enough to have formed a heartwarming bond with him and provided us with priceless video footage of it. Most of all we aregrateful to Felix for making it as easy as he could for us. Felix's body was cremated, and soon after a portion of his ashes will be scattered in three of his favorite places: the Foster City Dog Park, Lafayette Park near the apartment where we lived when he came to us, and Fort Funston.

We know little of Felix's life before he came into ours, but we find solace in the knowledge that in his two and a half years with us we made the most of our opportunity to give him a loving home, a place in our warm bed, plenty of food, lots of chicken treats, and daily opportunities to play with and put smiles on the faces of countless people and fellow canines. These things cannot possibly equal the unbelievable love, devotion, and compassion he gave to us during that time. Felix, our lives would not be the same if we had not met you, they'll never be the same with you gone, and we are eternally grateful for you. Farewell, Dear Friend.

Love,
Lillian, Keith, Hana, and Kirby
Dexter_1009.jpg

Dexter was around 12 yrs old and was dumped by his owner in a shelter after his wife died. He was deaf but loved people and going for walks. He had medical problems starting with seizures then a stroke and then tracheal collapse. Dexter went to the Rainbow Bridge today May 8, 2010. He was so loved by his foster mom who cared him no matter what problems he had and he will be missed greatly by all of PROS. Dexter came to PROS in October of 2009.

Frank, Mi Amigo Frank, Mi Hijo Frank. Cabeza de Melon Gracias por 8 años de felicidad continua nunca en una vida me voy a olvida de cómo inicio nuestra amistad Y como te llevare en mi corazon para siempre. Patillas Chiquitillas.

Frank, My Friend and Son, Melon Head, Thanks for 8 long years of happiness. I will never forget in a lifetime our friendship and you will be here forever in my heart. Patillas Chiquitillas.

With heartfelt grief Sara and I share the passing of our beloved Dylan across the rainbow bridge on November 24th at approximately 9 am, just a few weeks short of his 17th birthday. After a long and difficult first ten years, Dylan found his "forever home" with us in October of 2003. There is no way for me to adequately memorialize this amazing pug who was not only our first rescue pug, but the very first of many adopted, foster, and hospice pugs. Although we had originally planned on adopting Duffy, things changed at the last minute and Sara ended up picking up Dylan, "sight unseen". Not sure what to expect, we quickly fell in love with him and have been pug lovers ever since. Dylan captured our hearts with his wonderful personality and complete devotion. He changed our lives in profound ways and brought so much joy to our family. On my part, I had not the faintest idea that when Sara adopted Dylan as "her" new dog how quickly he would claim the deepest reaches of my heart or that he would become my constant companion and best friend. Six years together was far too short, but I am grateful for every wonderful moment together and for all the memories stored in that special part of my soul that Dylan will forever own. Sara and I, (and Peanut), would like to say a heartfelt thank you Gena and PROS for bringing this most special little guy into our lives. "Whatever it is that we love, the greater our love, the greater our corresponding grief if the loved person or thing is lost. It is the depth of our love that will determine the nature of our grieving…" -Jane Goodall Goodbye my best buddy, Daddy will remember and love you forever. Joel and Sara

  <p>Today (Jan. 14, 2010) I lost a piece of my heart. Tasha

<p>It is with profound sadness and deep regret that I must
inform you that my precious angel, Sadie passed over the Rainbow
Bridge Thursday evening, December 10th. She passed peacefully
and surrounded by the loving embrace of her adoring family.
Sadie battled declining health for a better part of the last
year. Her unbreakable and irresistable spirit just could not
keep up with her slowing body. She fought hard but it was inevitable....her
spinal nerve damage declined quickly and she developed a severe
urinary tract infection (e coli) that was difficult to beat.
She is resting in peace and is missed beyond what any words
can express. Thank you PROS for allowing me to share 3 1/2 years
of bliss....Sadie brightened my life in extraordinary ways and
she touched everyone - human and canine she came across. Please
pass this news on to Sonja Simmons - who lovingly fostered Sadie
before she came into my life and thank her for giving Sadie
a wonderful foster home. My very best to you both and PROS....

<p>I regret to inform you that our precious Mushu, formally
known as George, died this morning (11/7/09). This was so unexpected,
I'm in shock. He'd been acting strange all week. We went to
the vet Tuesday and again on Thursday. His symptoms were nonspecific,
but we believed it to be back pain and he was prescribed medications
to relieve his discomfort. This morning, while silently resting,
he slipped away soundlessly. We are just devastated. Though,
he was with us just short of 6 months, he gave us a lifetime
supply of love. We miss him so much already! Sincerely, Jennifer

<p>"An endearing Pug," is how Ed has described our beloved Pug,
Diva. She was my "Petitie Girl." In the short time
that we had with Diva, she brought us great love and happiness.
Her favorite spot was on top of Ed's guitar case. She was
happy all the time. She enjoyed exploring every room of our
home. Our hearts still ache for her. Her absence is evident
every moment of every day. Her ashes will rest beside our
beloved, Baby's ashes. We will think of Diva every day and
appreciate the great gift of love she brought to this house.

after her owner passed away. When Spanky came into our house
she first climbed to the highest point she could find (the top
of our leather couch). After watching us carefully for 2 hours
she jumped down and climbed into my lap. She looked at me and
her golden eyes said, "you will do". She gave me her heart and
took a piece of mine. She would boss us awake in the morning
and herd me in to the kitchen to make a latte so she could have
some foam. She loved latte foam. We will miss her feisty little

<p>I&rsquo;m sad to inform you all that Marley, my black pug
girl (old lady), whom I adopted around about 2000-2001, was
humanely euthanized today. We think she was about 15 years old
and may have had a brain tumor. Overnight she became incontinent,
and completely uninterested in any and all food (a medical emergency
for a pug, in my opinion), and at the vet&rsquo;s today began pressing
her head into the wall of her kennel. She was a great little
girl, the namesake of House of Marley, which I will probably
close, because, well, without a Marley, what is the point? Thanks

Last Saturday, Aug, 15 2009 we lost Reggie to oral Cancer. We
only had him for 4 years, but they were very Special years.;It
was like he had always been with us. I like to think they were
Reggie's happiest. He was in good health until May of this year
when he had his 6 month dental cleaning at Woodland Vet Hospital.
Dr.Tracy Stine found a lesion on his gum. We opted not to treat
the Cancer due to his advanced age. He was pain free and happy
till the night before we took him in. He was 14 this year. Reggie
and I spent a happy, special summer since his diagnosis. I'm
not working at this time, so I spent most every waking hour
with him. Reggie was my shadow, my best friend, and closest
buddy this summer. It was the best! I miss him more than is

<p>We are the family who adopted Marley about a month
ago. He adjusted very quickly to become an amazing addition
to our family. Sadly he passed away (we think from a heart
attack) early yesterday morning (Aug. 18, 2009). We are terribly
devastated by the loss. Adopting Marley from PROS, even though
it was for a short while, was a terrific experience and we
will always cherish the time we had with him! Marley was our
constant companion and was seldom alone. My daughter cuddled
with him in her bed at night. My son liked to take him on
regular walks to our neighborhood parks. Marley was such a
sweet and gentle dog that everyone fell in love with him.
He charmed all the friends and relatives we visited this summer.
He even charmed his way onto a shuttle bus that had a no dog
policy! Thank you PROS for so many wonderful memories with
our first dog! Robin Endres and Ted Haxo</p>

Rainbow Bridge. He was our first foster and our first adoption
from PROS. He gave us seven years of love and enjoyment. He
will missed by our entire family. He came to us weighting 37.5
lbs and taught us that a pug could do anything. He got down
to a handsome weight of 21 lbs. Approximately 10 months ago
a mast cell tumor was discovered in his nose. The tumor was
removed by surgery. The surgery and 10 months of chemotherapy
took its toll. With much sadness we watch as he crossed over

no pain and he can be with the other members of our family.

<p>I adopted Zoe at the age of 9 late October 2007 and
she stayed with me until her passing on June 29,2009. She was
diagnosed with thrombocyptopenia. She was my feisty, wild woman
when she first came to live with me and after 16 weeks training
at PetSmart and almost two years later, she earned a place in
my heart next to her sister, Chloe. When I lost Chloe in August
2007 to cancer, I was heartbroken.Although we were living on
borrowed time, the end was still tough. When Zoe entered my
life, joy and fulfillment returned to me tenfold. Zoe's legacy
is that she was my first adopted dog from Pug Rescue. I am hopeful
that in the near future,I can contribute (even if it is one
pug girl at a time) to a pug's joy and happy life. She was an
older girl but she was strong and feisty and full of life. Lately,
Zoe was dealing with an inflamed disc and receiving acupuncture
from Dr. Kirsten Williams at Bishop Ranch, which was making
such a difference for Zoe's mobility. In her two years with
me, Zoe had a great support network of dedicated doctors who
we will always be grateful to: Dr. Doug Rohn of BAVS, Dr. Eleanor
Dunn of Lake Vet Hospital, Dr. Williams of BRVC, and Dr. Smith
of Animal Eye Care. I would like to think that her final two
years with me, made her especially happy and loved. I know that
in pet heaven, she runs with her sister Chloe, finds her favorite
patch of grass, eats her carrots and TD regular bites with glee,
and never feels lonely anymore. My spirited girl Zoe, Grandma
Lola and I love and miss you very much. We are grateful to have

Our little black pug, Bridgette, died suddenly at the ranch June 4. We were getting ready to take her on one of her favorite walks to the aspen grove when she just exhaled her last breath and was gone. We are missing those little mirror eyes, but take comfort on how beautiful she developed in 3 short years with us from the starved abandoned pug PROS rescued. The places we went. She was a great traveler, loved her walks stalking chipmunks & squirrels, a super companion-our alpha grril. Bridgette's spirit will always be with us Shelley & Richard Lamoreaux

<p>It is with great regret knowing that our world will never
be the same as Vito (formerly Junior) before we adopted
him, has passed after a long life of 13 years on December 14th,
2008. Vito had many health issues that required our care. It
was always an honor to be there for him. Everyone says their
Pug is the best and he was no exception. He was the kind of
Pug that could melt your heart with a look. He had the most
peaceful loving soul. We always called him the little alien
in a Pug suit. He brought us so much joy he leaves a large hole.
You can read his story on the &ldquo;happy endings&rdquo; link. It was as
happy an ending for us as much as him. He was the best pal anyone
could ever ask for. Life must go on but this special little
pug will always be remembered with deep love. He is survived
by Lola another PROS rescue and a rescue Puggle Mia and his
heartbroken parents Scott and Maria. Thank you PROS for 7 wonderful
  years with our beautiful Vito</p></td>

<p>I write this with a broken heart......I am sorry to say that
we lost Charley this morning, January 2, 2009. He started
vomiting a little yesterday, then by this morning his breathing
was labored, so we rushed him into the ER. He was immediately
hooked up to oxygen, and the doctor starting running numerous
tests. Unfortunately, during this time he went into respiratory
failure. They revived him, but five minutes later he went
into respiratory failure again, and they lost him. Thank you
for making it possible for us to love this wonderful animal
for the last 9 months. He brought us all, and many members
of our community, so much joy. Our family is in tremendous
much pain right now, but I need to keep remembering that it
isn't about us. We need to be thankful that we were able to
give our dear Charley a home filled love, attention, and warmth
in his last year of life. I know he died a very happy dog. <br>
    Best, Kathy Burkland </p>
<p> PROS sends a big thank you to Kathy Burkland for her
Donation in memory of Charley Burkland. One of the sweetest
    dogs we've ever known. </p></td>

<p>&quot;Little Benji, with his crooked spine and poor
eyesight in his one remaining eye, has left us today, January
3, 2009) to be a healthy happy-go-lucky sightful pug in doggie
heaven. Benji was a wonderful pug, never complaining, never
demanding except of course when it came to his feeding time.
His stomach was like clockwork telling us it was time to eat.
He can now join Yoda Mae and Pochie across that Rainbow Bridge
and romp the fields of green. We will miss him dearly. Princess

<p>Toby crossed over the Rainbow Bridge during the first
week of December. One of his eye's ruptured and there was nothing
they could do for him due to his age etc. The Vet had given
me pain medication and a sedative to make him comfortable. I
talked to the vet around 10AM and elected to spend the day with
him. We snuggled in bed, he ate a full jar of baby food and
then in the afternoon I gave him the sedative. We took a long
nap and about 6PM took him to the Vet. He never woke up while
I was holding him in the car. He was snoring loudly and looking
very peaceful when the time came. It was hard but he went to
sleep lying in his bed next to me. Maria Thompson </p></td>

<p>On June 4th, 2008, I had to say goodbye to my dear friend
Roy. I had the privlege of Roy allowing me in his
life in Sept 2006. Even in his old man age (17 years!) we
had so much fun together. He loved to travel with me. We went
to Alaska for a few months, to Oregon twice, to Washingtion
and on a long roadtrip to Colorado and back. I know that after
he was found abandoned in a condemed home in Oakland, he had
2 very special years in a warm bed with plenty or food and

<p>My sweet baby girl Mugsy crossed the rainbow bridge
    this morning,October 16, 2008 . I am so sad and so heartbroken,
I feel like a piece of me went with her. I already miss her
so much and don't know what I will do without her. Even though
I only got to spend 4 amazing years with her, I feel like
it was many more and i woukd not trade one sleepless night
holding her for anything in this world. But I am so thankful
I got to be here with her and she wasn't alone.</p>
<p> When she started going down hill on Monday, in the back
of my mind, I thought how ironic we got the call to get another
little black girl named Mugsy from the shelter and I wondered
if it was a way of telling me as another one prepares to leave
your life, another one comes in. </p>

<p>With the heaviest of hearts, we share the news that we had
to let Fabio cross over the Rainbow Bridge last Monday,
October 6, 2008. We are deeply saddened and miss him terribly. Over the last few months, Fabio had slowed down remarkably
and walking and mobility were becoming greater challenges
for him. We took him to a specialist to view his x-rays and
to examine him and they reported that he showed and demonstrated
advanced spinal degeneration. Fabio brought us tremendous love and joy, after the loss
of our previous pug, Mabel, Fabio had given us the opportunity
to love a special furry companion again. Though our time was
short-only one and a half years-he has left a treasured place
in our hearts and tremendous void in our lives. Thank you for bringing Fabio to us and giving us such a
wonderful little dog to love and spoil. We hope that he and
Mabel are running freely, barking at squirrels, sunbathing
    and not hurting anymore.</p>

<p>Yancy went to the bridge yesterday morning, 10/13/08,
and I am just now able to sit down and tell you. I&rsquo;ve spent
the last five years with him always under foot, and I always
said that the secret service could take lessons from him. I
just don&rsquo;t know what I&rsquo;m going to do without him around. For
a dog who was blind and deaf, it&rsquo;s amazing how much presence
he brought to the house, because it was so quiet last night
without him. Here are a few pictures of him. I try to remind
myself that he had five great years with us, and that if he
hadn&rsquo;t been saved by Pug Pros, he would have died 5-1/2 years
ago. For someone&rsquo;s throw-away dog, he turned out to be the most
devoted and loyal little friend I could have asked for, and
at this point nothing is going to make this easier or better.

<p>It is with a sad heart that we have to report that Donnie
crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Oct. 9, 2008. Donnie
was picked up from an animal services unit in the Central
Valley after he was dumped there by his caretaker to be euthanized.
Donnie had been starved and caged for so long that he could
not walk due to muscle atrophy in his hind legs and he has
no awareness of anything that was going on around him. PROS
tried to nurse him back to health, His health continued to
decline. He started to have seizures. After consulting with
two Veterinarians it was determined that he sould be allowed
to cross over the Rainbow Bridge and end his suffering. We
believe that the quality of life he received while he was
with PROS made his short life better. He is missed by all
    of PROS.</p>
<p>PROS thanks all the people who have sent donations to help
pay his medical bills: Elaine La Mastra-Stoner, Jonathan Connett,

<p>Sporty came to live with me in early April of 1999,

of why they couldn't keep him...........from barking in an apartment,
marking fabrics (the woman was a designer) to not getting along
with the other Pug, to other lame excuses not worth mentioning
that we in rescue have heard a million times. I fostered him
and came to realize that he was not going to be one of the easier
Pugs to adopt due to some of his odd behaviors. I must say that
the past 9 years have certainly not all been easy but Sporty
and I did come to an understanding or a meeting of the minds
so to speak and today was, perhaps, one of the saddest moments
of my life as I came to realize that rescuing a pet is truly
a lifetime commitment, theirs or ours! In these difficult times,
Pug Rescue, here in Las Vegas is busting at the seams with Pugs
for adoption, so tonight, I sit here and contemplate, which
lucky Pug, will enter our life next.............. I have always
said that one Pug leaves this world to make room for another

<td><img src="images/line.gif" width="500" height="3" border="0">It is with a broken heart that I have to tell you that Biscuit
passed away last night. She had a perfect pug day, where she
slept in late, sat in my lap for hours and had a nice walk.
She slept under my head on the couch while I watched a movie
and in my lap on the patio in the evening while I chatted with
friends. Late in the night she woke up agitated and when I tried
to calm her down she threw up and then went into seizure. I
rushed her to emergency vet and they tested her for poisons,
just in case she got into something. Sadly, the vet determined
that she was likely suffering from a brain tumor that was incurable.
She had 2 more seizures and went from my perfect pug to pained
and disoriented in minutes. The vet said that there was nothing
that could be done to ease her until she passed and so they
put her to sleep in my arms. For all the pain, emptiness and
heartbreak I'm feeling right now, I would never take back a
moment with Biscuit. I spoiled as much as I could and she gave
me all the love and happiness in the world. She would come into
work with me once every couple weeks at the radio station and
would make everyone smile. She would sit in my lap or sleep
in her doggie bed while I was on the air and during long songs
we'd walk around the block. She loved to sniff around a new
neighborhood! Thank you for bringing her into my life. I know
that the pain will dull eventually, but I will always miss her.
In time, I'll be able to adopt another rescue pug and will be

<p>Wed, 2 Jan 2008, After a series of illnesses we had to let
Sammy go tonight. On New Years eve and the day before
he had a couple of seizures and was diagnosed with diabetes.
He had numerous other problems, collapsed trachea, blind, and
mostly deaf with arthritis, we decided it was just too much.
He wasn't recovering from the seizure, it was time. He was our
second rescue pug. He loved his toys, food, and the song White
Wedding by Billy Idol. The beginning guitar part would drive
him nuts, it was really cute. He's survived by his rescue brother,
  Mr. Lucky. </p></td>

Baby felt &quot; I will forever be grateful for the time Baby
was a part of my life, no matter how short. Baby was a gift.
I loved Baby as much as I have ever loved anyone. I did not

  <p>Friday, October 19, 2007, an elegy for Midge.</p>
<p> for all of you that knew and loved the great midge,
our little old pug who was blind and deaf (not to mention
courageous) and had only one eye, i am very sorry to announce
that she passed away today. </p>
<p>I loved Midge because she defied all laws of nature. We think
she was born sometime circa 1994, and while her early years
remain a mystery, and we have no idea what happened to her
right eye, she came into our life via the guy that runs the
gun shop/pug rescue center in Livermore in sometime in 2004
and she spent most of her days foraging for food in our living
room with her heightened sense of smell (it really was her
only sense that functioned) and sitting on the couch making
fun pig noises while my mom knit and watched Law and Order.
She was loved by all who met her and leaves behind a lifetime
of memories that will no sooner fade from our minds then her
pee stains from my parents carpet</p>
<p> I miss her very much, I think we all do. She was a warm
and fuzzy little girl with a heart of gold and was unlike
    any other dog on earth.</p>

He was my sweet and gentle soul who brought much happiness

around him. He had developed a semi-dislocated hip and diseased
discs along with arthritis which prohibited his infamous pug
strut and ability to bend his legs without pain. The sad thing
about it was that he still had his little keen mind. But I

<p>Today, July 4, 2007, at 6:30pm my sweet Miss Kitty,
aka <i>Ch. Glory's Cat Dancing</i>, passed away in my arms
after a brief but furious idiopathic rare acute auto-immune
attack that destroyed her platelets. This after ten years
of unflagging health. My vets were wonderful, especially Dr.
Peter Nurre, and they did everything they could to help my
Kitty. Kitty was my first girl pug and my foundation bitch.
I owe my life in pugs to her and everything good I have in
pugs is because of her. Kitty could not help but be loved
by everyone she knew. She met a little boy in the neighborhood
who used to sleep with a picture of her under his pillow.
Eventually his parents, who wouldn't let him have a dog, started
asking if Miss Kitty could come over for special weekend sleepovers.
Kitty loved her little boy friend. Everyone who knew her will
agree she was sweet and demure. A patient but strict mom,
grandmom and greatgrandmom -- she could set puppy limits without
raising a paw, whether the babies were hers or not. She loved
them all and treated them as her family. Kitty never asked
for anything from us her entire life yet inspired more love
from us than I can explain and appreciated every pet and cuddle
as if it was every time a brand new exciting experience. She
taught us how to "grumble" and taught us pug sign language
when she couldn't hear too well anymore. It is comforting
that her spirit is all around us with my pug family that is
her family. Thankfully she is resting peacefully now, I would
like to think with her son Pablo. If I could say one more
thing to her it would be - I'll always love you my little
pillow-mate Your loving family ~ Lisa, Joe, Otto, Jeannie,

<p>Pretty Miss Penny crossed over the rainbow bridge on
April 16Th, 2007 in my arms. She came to me 3 1/2 years ago
when I discovered that San Lfa had a PUG RESCUE. Penny was the
perfect little lady, never to potty on the sidewalk or in the
park. She was very shy and had her crate as a security blanket.
She also liked to have a down blanket to mouth on, never tearing
a hole. She loved squeaky toys, playing tug of war with Mom
or Dad, but never played with other dogs and hated to be around
people she didn't know. Lucky Little Penny wasn't so lucky when
she was misdiagnosed with severe ringworm and given a VERY TOXIC
drug that caused liver failure. The Animal Hospital continued
to make mistakes for 5 weeks. She originally went to the Doctor
for a little bald spot on her neck and a small inflamed and
bleeding growth on her paw ( it was not malignant ). Miss Penny's
final 6 days were spent mostly in the hospital on IV's and oxygen
while we were waiting for the biopsy test results that were
NEVER sent to the pathologist. The VET says the courier lost
them. She suffered way to much and I only wish I had been able
to be with her when she really needed me and I needed her. I
love you so very much Penny and Dad, Toby and Tigger miss you

<p>Mingo 1990-2007 My dear sweet Mingo left this world
of love on May 11, 2007 at 6:15pm. He left with him in my arms.
He knew that I loved him dearly. But he didn&rsquo;t leave easily.
His body was weary with cancer and seizures but his spirit and
heart very much wanted to stay. Mingo in Choctaw means King
or Chief and he very much lived up to his name. He was very
regal and royal and had such dignity. He never had a mean bone
in his body. He came to us on Nov. 17, 1999. He was our first
foster through Pug Rescue of Sacramento and he immediately became
attached to me and I knew he wasn&rsquo;t going to be leaving us.
We adopted him that following January and he became a very important
member of this family. He lived a life all dogs and pets should
live. He never went without. Up until this past few weeks he
had been quite healthy, too. I thank Roxane Fritz for entrusting
us with him and I truly believe that his human mom had a divine
hand in getting him to us. His is quite the story on how he
got to us. I miss him so much already. I pray that he isn&rsquo;t
alone. He hates to be alone. I will miss his tongue that hangs
out all the time, his prancing when he ran to meet me when I
came home from work, how he loved to lick my feet in the mornings,
the way he &ldquo;allowed&rdquo; me to put him to bed, and all the little
things that were just Mingo&rsquo;s way. I love you sweet boy. Thank
you for coming my way. You will always be in my heart. Mama
and Daddy love you dearly. Donn and Nicole Coenen </p></td>

<p>Sweet Duffy was a 13 to 14 year old black neutered
male Pug. He had a collapsing trachea and chronic bronchitis,

<p> What do you do when a good friend dies? <br>
What do you do when a good friend dies? <br>
Do you lash out in anger and curse at the sky. <br>
Or grasp hard denial, the means of the weak, <br>
In an effort to kindle the comfort you seek. <br>
What do you do when a good friend dies? <br>
Once life's breath, so precious, gives the chest final rise. <br>
In haste you take blame, no other at fault, <br>
You kneel upturned earth and deem all happiness to halt. <br>
What do you do when a good friend dies? <br>
When with him the times, both good and bad, lie. <br>
Do you cast aside the past, for memories hurt much too much, <br>
Or struggle and fight for that last lingering touch. <br>
What do you do when a good friend dies? <br>
When all of the tears have all but been cried. <br>
No matter how much, no matter how hard you try, <br>
The only thing to do is say farewell. <br>
    Goodbye.

<p>Mae wass a 13yr old female pug who was a real love
but who had mast cell tumors. Mae crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Sept. 28, 2006.

<p>Sara is a very sweet little pug and came in with Roy.
They were found abandoned in a condemned home by animal control
and the shelter called us right away. Sara is an elderly blind,
confused little fawn female and Roy is a middle aged Pug mix
with a huge tumor on his rear hind leg which is affecting
his movement, he also has a bad gum infection from no dental
care. Roy is very devoted to Sara and looks after her. Both
pugs were flea infested especially Roy - it took over 4 flea
baths to get the fleas off of him. They are in a very special
foster home and are receiving all the care and love they need. </p>
<p>Sara crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on September 11,
    2006.</p></td>

<p>Roxy is a sweet loving fawn Senior Pug that was found
as a cold, shivering stray by some wonderful good samaritans.
They notified us and PROS rescued her from the shelter. Roxie
is 10 to 12 years old, spayed and very active for her age.
She's so happy she has trouble containing herself. She gets
along with everyone, human and animal (Roxy is cat friendly)
and would love a warm, human lap to curl up in at night. There
is nothing better than to get a older pugs love and Roxy is
    more than ready.</p>
<p>Roxy crossed over the rainbow bridge September 1, 2006.</p></td>

Ruby is a older female pug who was found wandering in a parking lot of a post office. She has some rear end weakness but can go up a couple of steps and is learning to use a doggie door with a ramp.

Ruby crossed over the rainbow bridge on June 8, 2006.

<p>Rosie came to us from a puppymill and heartworm positive.
Once healed PROS found her a perfect home but sometimes good
things don't last. Rosie is back with us and has kidney failure.
She doesn't have long to live and to say that for a 3 year old
Pug is heart breaking. There's no explanation for why it happened
but when there's no cure, the why is no longer important. What
is important is to keep her remaining time happy and as comfortable
    as we can.
</p> <p>Rosie crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on April 24, 2006.
    Rosie we all miss you!

<p>Mr. Blue is around 13 years old and has had a hard
life. His foster family is providing him with a comfortable
and loving retirement home, and he gives them wonderful pug
purrs for tummy rubs. He's pretty stiff with arthritis but
he loves laying in the sun during the day or snoozing the
day away in the house. Blue has been a hospice pug with PROS
    since May 2003</p>
<p>Mr. Blue crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on April 24,
2006. Mr. Blue, your foster family and all of PROS will miss
    you.</p>

<p>Maggie is a 10 year old fawn pug that came to PROS
with many medical problems. PROS gladly took Maggie in and
although we've tried hard to repair past damage there are
some things we can't fix. Maggie has neurological damage from
past injuries to her back and it has become harder for her
to walk, chiropractic treatments just couldn't help. Plus,
Maggie is now battling recurrent bladder infections. She's
happy and still loves to be with her foster family.</p>
<p>Maggie went to the Rainbow Bridge on April 4, 2006</p></td>

<p>15 year old Sophie passed over on the evening of March
31 2006. She was happy all day, had a great week. She
passed after having her evening treat... the thing she loved
best. We will miss her terribly.</p></td>

<p>It is with such deep mourning that I let you know of the
passing of Sammy our dear pug. He came to us on Dec.
23, 1999 and passed away on Mar. 30, 2006. We loved him so
very much and we miss him already. I am thankful that he passed
this way and we had the opportunity to show him what love
was. Many had a hand in his rescue and I thank each one of
those wonderful people that through them he found his way
    to us.</p>

<p>Berry went to the Rainbow Bridge on March 23, 2006.
Some people would say just to let him stay in the shelter but
PROS just could not do that. We saw Berry, an old and sweet
grey old man who needed a better place to live and we just would
not let him die in a shelter. Berry was 12-14 years old, maybe
older. Blind, deaf and a mouth full of rotting teeth we took
him anyway knowing we could make his last days better. We'd
like to think we made a huge difference for him and he passed
away knowing he was home and safe. Berry, we did not know you
for long but we love you.</p></td>

<p>Scotty crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on December 19,
2005. His foster family and all of PROS misses him deeply. </p>
  <p>Tribute to Scotty: <br>
Two weeks ago a wonderful spirit named Scotty came into our
lives and house. We knew that he had health problems, a severe
collapsing trachea, but we thought that we would have a good
length of time with him. He really seemed to fit in with our
other pugs and greatly enjoyed our house and backyard. Unfortunately,
Scotty passed away last night. We went quietly and did not
appear to suffer. We are honored that we could share our lives
with him even if just for 2 short weeks. He touched us and
our other pugs deeply and we will miss his darling little
    spirit. <br>
    Rest in peace Scotty. <br>

<p>Nicky went to the Rainbow Bridge on August 21, 2005.
His foster mom and all of PROS misses him deeply. </p>
<p><i>He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. <br>
You are his life, his love, his leader. <br>
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his

You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.</i>
