Buddy

Buddy2013.JPGSteve Elgin and Jason Visperas adopted Buddy

We learned of Pros Pug Rescue back in December 2012 through Facebook. As we looked at all of the available pugs for adoption and already having 2 pugs since puppies, currently, both are 4 years old and are brother and sister. We decided to go to the adoption event in Roseville in February, though there were several beautiful and gorgeous available pugs for adoption; we didn't feel the right connection. The next day, we had gone to the adoption event in Concord, as we walked in we saw Buddy, instantly we felt the connection and fell in love with him. Buddy is now home with his new brother Keoni and sister Malia. They are best "Buds" and are having so much fun being together. Buddy enjoys when we all go for a walk and everyone who pets Buddy can't believe how sweet and gentle he is. We are so proud Buddy loves the attention. Thank you Pros Pug Rescue because without you, we would not have been able to meet and fall in love with our wonderful Buddy.

On a separate note: Thank you Angela Perez for being Buddy's foster mom and taking good care of him. Thank you Jan Grover for always keeping us updated with Buddy's progress while in foster care. We appreciate all you have done.

Sincerely,
Jason Visperas & Steve Elgin

Dolly

Dolly2013.jpegDolly was adopted by Chris Potter

Well we are a month into Dolly's adoption and I just want you to know that I couldn't be happier. She is the sweetest little pug! She loves everyone, has not problem with other dogs or cats, she is like a
puppy in a way, cause she is so aware of every day things like sirens, bikes, cars, planes... it is all new to this perfect little dog! She has adapted to our routine with no problem, and I have to say, I just LOVE her SO much! I have continued with her glucosamine and her legs are getting steady each and everyday. She loves going outside and spreading her "Dolly Dust" (pee). I LOVE this dog... thank you so much! She loves people as well, and when someone stops to pet her, I say this is Dolly, and they always say, she is so adorable, I can see
why you call her Dolly! Thanks Jan, for all your hard work!

Sissy

sissy3.jpgSissy was adopted by Liz Margerum

Sometimes you just see a dog and know it is meant to be. Sissy (formerly known as Roxy) came from a home where she was left in the backyard alone for 8 years. No words can describe how lovable and sweet Sissy is. Really she is a big buterball of love. She may be mostly blind and deaf but she knows exactly where everything is. (Even the stuff she is supposed to stay out of.) She loves running circles around the couch and coffee table when she feels so inclined. We call it "the loop," its her version of the puggy tear. She loves to be upside down in your lap. It is the best position for belly rubs, and smiles with all three extra chins. If you stop petting her she gives you her bark of disapproval.

It only took her a week to figure out that sleeping under the covers is far superior than sleeping on top of them. Now she burrows in with her brother Gus and I at bedtime. She loves being an indoor dog with a family and a warm lap to lounge upon and she never has to be locked out in the back yard alone again. Gus her brother is a little less excited he has to share his human. But he'll come around. Thanks to all the PROS people who helped get Sissy to us. She brightens our life.

Mogley

Mogley1.jpeg
Mogley was adopted by Kai Liu

Hi PROS!

Thank you so much for helping us find the perfect new addition to our family! Butters, formerly Mogley, has been a joy to our lives and has brightened our home in just the short week he's been with us. He's the
sweetest little boy we ever could have wished for--he LOVES to snuggle, and follows us around wherever we go. Not to brag, but he's gotten quite attached to his new Mommy, but loves his new Daddy almost
just as much. He's great company as well, he stays at home with me most of the time and spends it by snuggling up on the couch or in his bed. He also wanted to show PROS a picture of him with his new parents
(a family portrait is coming up soon), and a quick shot of him pooped out in his bed after a long day.

Thanks again PROS!
Love,
Kai, Trent, and Butters the Pug

Zino

Zino-1.jpg
I just wanted you to know how well Zino is doing. From the minute he arrived, he's made himself right at home; it's as if he's always been here. He and my other pug Betty are getting along beautifully, and she is thrilled to have a new playmate to chase around the house and backyard. We are so happy he's here!

Posey

posey.JPGPosey was adopted by David & Vicki Scott

We adopted Posey on December 1, 2012. She is such a sweet little girl and we love her! Posey has started her basic obedience school and is learning to be a real country girl. As with all pugs, she loves food, treats, warm laps, taking walks, and snuggling. Posey has filled our hearts and home, and helped us to recover from the loss of our beloved pug, Ping Li, who passed over the rainbow bridge two years ago due to a progressive spinal disease. We are so thankful for her foster mom, Kelli, who loved and nurtured Posey while she was waiting for her forever home. When Posey visited Santa, she wished for TREATS! Thank you PROS for keeping her safe until we found each other!

Bear

Pros-Bear.jpg
Bear was adopted by Cliff and Debbie Geyer. Bear is their third PROS pug!

The Bear joined us April 24th. He's an absolute delight. Bear and Sammi are getting along fine. Bear has found his own special places in the house and has filled our home with his energy and his special personality. Our home is now his home.

Thanks again PROS. Bear is our third PROS pug.

Cliff Geyer

Nina

nina2012.jpgRobin Valicenti adopted Nina

Nina is a sweet cupcake of a pug. We are blessed with her love and adoring personality. She fits in very well with our family and seems to enjoy all that we have to offer her, as we enjoy all she offers us. Nina is a very athletic and well toned girl and loves to sprint when she has the opportunity and take long walks provided it is not to hot or cold. She plays fetch with the ball and loves to herd other dogs at the park near our home. Nina is social and plays a fierce game of tug of war and enjoys a good belly scratch. She is smart, funny, soooo cute and a delicate little lady. Thank you to pugpros for the excellent match.

Esme

belle_2012.jpgI wanted to let you know that Esme is doing wonderful! She is such a happy, smart little girl. She loves her walks and all the toys I got for her. She's learned 4 new commands already and her new name! I adore her. She's helped heal the grief over my late pug and is already lighting up my life.

I feel so lucky to have this little girl.

Best,

Amy

Brooklyn

brooklyn_2011.jpg

Mark & Lynn Compton and family adopted Brooklyn

Brooklyn's infectious spirit has brought a joyful energy to our home, one that we had sorely missed in the months since our beloved Texas passed away. Our spunky little girl loves walking our daughter to school each morning and exploring her new neighborhood--though we're still working on her manners when it comes to meeting other dogs while she's on leash! Off the leash, it's a whole other story: On her very first trip to the dog park at Pt. Isabel, Brooklyn strutted around like she owned the place and was eager to join the pack for games of chase and tug-of-war. At home, you can find her performing sentinel duty from the top of our living room chest, tearing around the house with the kids for spirited games of fetch with her new toys, or working hard on a bully stick. As a pug, she of course craves comfort: her favorite new discovery has been the "magic floor," i.e., the heating grates, which she will belly up to when the weather is cold and rainy. At night, she likes nothing more than to snuggle with us on the couch, and vice versa. We want to thank PROS for bringing this special little girl into our lives, with our sincere gratitude going to Linda and Richard for helping make the match happen (and to Princess Daisy for so thoroughly vetting our home!), and also to Brookie's caring foster mom, Nicole, who gave her love and a warm home during the transition. Brooklyn sends you all a flurry of her pug kisses!

SNAX

snax_2011-HE.jpg
SNAX, formerly known as Elliot, is happy, healthy, and very popular! I cannot walk him a block without someone asking about his unusual apricot color and commenting on what a cutie he is, needless to say, this little guy gets TONS of attention!! Although he got out to a rough start in life, SNAX has such a positive outlook and is the most loving buddy and is a serious cuddle monster. SNAX comes to work with me; where daily he wins over clients. I feel so fortunate to have SNAX
in my life; he keeps me smiling. I love this little guy more than words could ever express! Thanks to Pug Pros for giving all these dogs a second chance to find happiness and forever homes! Also a special thanks to the foster parents, especially Nicole (SNAX's foster mom), who taught SNAX to give the best hugs!

Dylan

Dylan_2011-HE.JPGWe first met Dylan when Sanjuana, his foster mom brought him with her to do our house check. We had just lost our second pug in less than two years, Ruby, due to cancer and Joe our 18mth old was really lonely. Joe wanted to play with Dylan as soon as he met him and we loved him right from the start. Later that week we called Sanjuana and asked if we could adopt him and within one week he was in his forever home.

He was a little shy and nervous at first, but now 6 weeks later it's like he's always been here. He sleeps in bed with us, he snores so loud ! and is like a teenager, I have to go get him out of bed on the weekends ! He and Joe love playing tug of war, chasing each other around the dining room table and Joe lets Dylan give him a daily bath with his constant pug kisses. At bedtime its like being in a wrestling ring, the two of them have a blast. He went to meet his new vet, Dr Daphne, and she fell in love with him at first sight. He had to have a dental and during his pre-op blood work found that he needs to be on Thyroid medication (maybe now he will lose some weight). He is a gentle giant (still 30lbs) but he has the sweetest, kindest nature, he loves to snuggle and kiss.Dylan_2011_HE2.JPG

We are so happy we got to meet him, thank you Sanjuana and pug pros, we are so blessed that he allows us into his home at night !

Yvonne and Jeff Maxfield

Jenny

Jenny_HE_2011.jpgThis is our sweet girl Jenny. We can't believe it has been over a year since she has become part of our family. She is such a cuddle bug. She loves to sit on the deck in the sun or a sunny spot in the house. But most of all she loves to snuggle up on the couch. She gets so excited when she sees her leash and knows its time to go for a walk or a ride in the car. She also loves her toys and her little brother Hayley. Hayley and Jenny are two peas in a pod. They play together and when its naptime, they rest together! We are so thankful for Pros for all of the work you do to help these precious pugs find their forever homes. Thank you to Andi and Kelly for taking such good care of her in her foster home! Monica, Robert and Taylen

Nudo

Nudo_2011.JPGJust taking a minute to give you an update on Nudo. He is doing fine. He eats, sleeps, plays with his toys especially 2 large stuffed animals a lamb and a bear. So far no health issues. The only thing negative is he likes to chase my cat but she is faster than he is!! Lol Also, he likes to be accompanied on his trips to go potty. I call him Berkeley Boy then. We have about 1/3 acre fenced lot and he prefers company when he goes out. Probably still a little leery of being left. Any way, he is fitting in nicely.

Take care. Jacqui Harris

Blake

Blake_2011-2.jpg Blake was adopted by Jennifer Kohler

Blake is 11 years old. He has been with us for four months. When he came to us he had been in foster care for over a year and had undergone major surgery on his legs. He has an unknown past and was quiet and distant. Blake is also deaf and mostly blind. For the first two months we did not leave him alone. He slept with us and we would carry him from room to room with us. With patience, constant attention, and some arthritis medication, he has really blossomed. He walks three times a day, and combined his walks total more than a mile. He walks very slow and cannot walk on grass or uneven ground, but flat surfaces suit him just fine. He trusts us more and more; he has learned his way around the house and his neighborhood. He loves to be close and push you with his head and give big kisses. When he first came to us he would flinch at our touch and now he lies on his side and lets us rub his belly. We are absolutely in love with him. Our other pug and black lab have been very sweet, sharing toys and dog beds and humans, and walking much slower for their new brother. We could not be happier. We would like to give a special thanks to the generous donors who paid for Blake's surgery and gave him a new life. We are so grateful to be his new family.

Dakota

Dakota.JPGDakota is doing very well. I am taking him to the vet today for his first check up. Interestingly enough, I was telling my friend Erin the names that I would have named Dakota when we were driving home from your house and when I said the name "Gunner", he perked up and looked right at me. I think his original name must have started with a "G" and ended with an "er" because he immediately responds to that name every time I say it. Thus, I have renamed him Gunner. He and Spanky get along really well. They have already started to play tug of war with the numerous toys I have in the house. I think he is an absolute doll boy and such a cuddle bug! He really enjoys his walks too, although sometimes I have to pick him up towards the end of the walks as he gets tired sooner than Spanky.

Yolanda

Yolanda2011.jpg

Yolanda - now Mochi - was adopted by Jennifer Voorhees and family. This is their third PROS pug.

We love mail!

Hi Nicole!

I'm sorry I haven't been in touch since adopting Mochi (Yolanda). Time really just flew by for us! It was really great seeing you at Pugtacular though. That helped remind me to jot you a note. (I always think I'm going to get to Pug Saturday, but it never seems to happen!)

I can't tell you how much we love our little Mochi!! She settled in like she's always been here. Noodle took to her real fast. He laid down some guidelines at the beginning, but they've been pretty harmonious ever since. They are inseparable. Our cat, Jake, loves her even more because she will PLAY with him. Actually, Jake is pretty relentless when it comes to stalking his sister-pug!!

Mochi is such a love-bug and a great snuggler. She is my constant shadow. She is so loving and such a good girl that we just can't believe anyone could mistreat her or give her up! Well, their loss...

Anyway, I hope you had a great holiday season and we wish you all the best in this new year!

Snorts and Grunts,
Mochi and the Voorhees

Lizzie

lizzie.jpgJust a note to let you know the pug formally know as Lizzy is doing fabulously. Abby, as she is known today, is the most joyful dog I have ever met. We take her and her brother Bartlett to Fort Funston several times a week and she literally does somersaults through the sand and ice plants. Literally. She loves to play hide and seek with us and chase with other dogs. She is surprisingly athletic for a pug and absolutely fearless. We have been working hard on training which on one hand is easy because she is so smart and on the other a bit difficult because she is so smart. When she gets the naughty bee in her bonnet, look out! Abby keeps us on our toes and makes us laugh every day.

Tina & Leo

tinaleo.jpg

Seasons Greetings from Tina, Leo (Leonardo) & Chato!

It's hard to believe that it has almost been a year since we adopted Tina & Leo. Tina instantly formed an everlasting bond with my daughter - Tina NEVER leaves her side. Leo is my little Teddy Bear - so sweet and precious!!

At first it had taken a little bit for all of us...3 pugs, 2 rabbits and 2 humans to adjust to life together, but everyone has adjusted. We have routines that we follow and it seems to workout perfectly...

Leo's jaw has healed wonderfully and I'm happy to say that we have been able to keep both Tina & Leo in the great shape that Camp Fours Paws got them in while they were waiting for their forever home with us. (both were way overweight!)

Thanks so much PROS and Camp Four Paws!

percy_alum.jpg

I wanted to let you know how happy we are to have added Percy to our family. He's been with us for 2 weeks now and has adapted perfectly to his forever home. He's friendly with everyone he meets, loves going on long walks or watching TV and rides happily in the back seat whenever we go on outings. Thanks for taking such good care of a great little dog. We love him!

Wanted to let you know Tazzie (we decided to keep this name) continues to do great! Attached are a few action shots, he loves to nibble on Elaine's nose and ears. He is so loving and energetic which is exactly what we and this house needed! He is just adorable and we feel so very lucky to have in our family. Thank you so much!

Pauly

PaulyBliss.jpg

Hello All,

I wanted to thank you for your help to unite me with my new friend/companion Pauly.

He has adjusted quite well to his new life within seconds of being home he made a space on the couch. We are walking Bernal Heights morning and evenings with small walks during the day. We are finding all dog-friendly establishments in the neighborhood some owners already call out his name when we walk in. The dog walker is tarting to socialize him into her pack its Dynamutts that specializes in small dogs in small packs. He has met his new upstairs friend fawn pug Weezer and they enjoy walks and laying down snoring together. I've attached a few pics of him including a small hike we went on. He does really well with toddlers and all dogs big and small.

Indeed he loves car rides and snuggling on the couch while we watch tv. I'm taking him to my vet soon to just get him a check up and his records to them so they can be familiar with him.

I feel fortunate to adopt Pauly and I'm trying to provide him with the best life possible in return for his unconditional love.

Thank you,
Analise

Priscilla

priscilla2.jpg

Dear PROS,

My husband and I are so happy to have adopted Pugsy (formerly Priscilla). In the 6 or so weeks since her arrival, we have been thrilled to see her settle in, and after starting out with a little nervousness and separation anxiety, she is now very calm when we leave in the morning and is so playful and happy in her new home. We have been on lots of walks together, she loves parks where she can meet other people and other dogs. She is even terrific with little kids! The picture here is from a day trip to Montara Beach which is dog friendly. She seemed to really like watching the surfers and waves. We cannot believe our good fortune with our Pugsy, as newlyweds it has been such a wonderful and fun way to start married life with a new addition in the house. She has made for lots of entertainment with her perky personality and we love date nights together at the dog park. We are so in love.

Our most recent excursion to the San Jose pug meetup was a huge hit, and she was happily reunited with her wonderful PROS foster parents and former pug housemates. We are so thankful to them, and to your organization. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for what you do.

With many grateful pug hugs,
Brianne & Ryan & Pugsy

Olie

Oliewins.jpg

Hi Jenna,

I was thinking of you as we celebrated Olie's tenth birthday today. I baked him crustless, sugar-free pumpkin custard and he just gobbled it right up. Wearing a party hat, not so thrilling for him.

Overall he's doing pretty well. I've met so many people with Pugs and they are always shocked at how old Olie is and that he's so active. He walks me every day and everyone we pass on the street comments on what a cutey he is. I took him to the annual Doggy Dash fundraiser that the SPCA has here every year, to try to socialize him with other dogs. I didn't take him on the 5K walk because I thought it would be too much for him, but I did enter him in the Pug Races. I would have been thrilled if he just crossed the finished line. When the lady walked up and handed me the 2nd place ribbon, I almost asked if she had the right dog.

His skin issues have been a constant battle. He's been on just about every kind of medication, anthistamines, antibiotics, ketaconazole, atopica, probiotics, yogurt, diet changes, etc. We'll just keep trying until we find what works. This week I've gone back to holistic methods, apple cider vinegar both topically and a teaspoon a day orally. I'll let you know if it works.

I occasionally browse through the Pug Rescue website and think maybe I should get Olie a friend to hang out with when we're not at home, but he's so spoiled and the center of our universe, I don't want him to think he's being bumped out of the number one position.

Take care, I hope all is well with you and your family.

Omar

omar.jpgI know it's been a long time since you've heard from us, and as you might have guessed it OMAR'S BIRTHDAY! A little update: I can't remember if I told you and I'm so sorry that I didn't, Omar had surgery on December nothing big no worries. Omar had some bad plaque build up so we took him to the ASPCA and he had an in and out surgery with a few teeth removed. It went without a hitch he did better than I did I'll tell you that. It was the worst feeling in the world to have my lovies in surgery and I hope I'll never have to do it again. the Vet tough me how to brush his teeth properly and things are going well in that department.
in other news in March we celebrated our 3rd year anniversary with Omar. Just thinking back on those first days with Omar and how well he has adjusted with us. Our family wouldn't be a family without our Omar.
he's maintained a good steady weight and no other health problems have arose.
I've placed some photos of Omar I hope you like them.
I hope all is well on your side and that your doggies are doing good too.
with love, Omar, Maritza and Brady

Rollie

rollie2.jpg

Thank you so much for giving us Raleigh [formerly Rollie].

I wanted to give you an update. He is doing wonderfully! We take many, many walks here in North Beach, and Raleigh loves the beach at Crissy Fields. We love his energy and cherish his great spirit!

He has been a wonderful addition to our family.

Thank you so much for saving these lovely dogs and supporting pug lovers!!!!

Christina, Mark, Elsa & Raleigh

PS - He fits in wonderfully with my daughter, he is at the perfect age for a 4 yr. old. She gets his attention and they both play with the same toys.

Rollie's story:

rollie.jpg

I am a 2 yr old neutered male fawn pug. I was abandoned and picked up by animal control where they took me to a shelter. I was surrendered to PROS, someone wanted me. I am a little bit insecure, but once I become comfortable in my surroundings and know that someone loves me I will be just fine. I am slightly under weight and when I was picked up I had demodetic mange. I am now finished being treated for the mange. I ride great in the car, and I am good with the other dogs in my foster home. I am learning that humans can be a wonderful source of fun and positive attention. I love playing with stuffed toys and my nylabone. I am very motivated by food rewards. I want to be part of the action in my foster home, and I am as sweet as they come. I am current on all of my vaccinations, I am micro-chipped, and my heart worm test was negative.

3 month update: Check out Rollie! Lookin' good and that fur is all grown back in!

Sammie

Sammie.jpg
Sammie was adopted by Carolyn & Al Lacy

The first thing [our 4 grandchildren] say when they come to our house is "Where is Sammie?" Our lab, Leo, still misses his old chum, Megan, but is beginning to warm up to Sammie. They sleep together, eat together and lounge on the sofa together.

Sometimes I take Sammie with me to pick up Noelle from Kindergarden. She loves to ride in the car. Everybody in Kindergarden gravitates to her and she is so gentle with the little ones. We are so happy to have her in our lives. Turns out there is another pug, "Lois Lane", who lives in our neighborhood. Now that the weather is nice, I plan to take Sammie over and introduce ourselves.

And guess what? She likes all the same TV shows I like (Dancing with the Stars, Amazing Race, Survivor....). It is such fun to cuddle with her and consult with her about what is going on in the shows.

Thanks again for taking such good care of her for us. Can't imagine life without her now.

yours, Carolyn

Zack

zack.jpgI just wanted to write and say that Zack is doing great. I am so lucky to have this little dude in my life. I like to tell people that we rescued each other. We both came from trauma...he lost his Mom and I had recently just lost my previous dog.

Thank you, Pug Pros for what you do to help these amazing dogs. And a big thank you to Laurie, Zack's foster mom. She helped Zack and his brother, Bentley, get in healthy shape!
Zack is a real gentleman and cuddle bug. He is also is a good listener and I tell him he is an "amazing" guard dog although he would never hurt a flea. He sleeps by my side and we really enjoy our daily morning walks together. People will often ask me if he gets to sit on the sofa and I say, "of course! He's a Pug!"

We hope that Bentley, Zack's brother is doing well. Zack sends a big hug to him and is glad he, too, found a forever home.
Best,
Ruth+Zack.

Squish

squish.jpgHi PROS Family,

I just wanted to say another huge thank you for matching me and Squish
(formerly Dusty, aka. Squash). It has been just over six months with him and
we are totally in love. Squish has certainly settled into his normal routine
of several walks a day - he used to be afraid of walking on grass - and now
loves romping through it with neighbor dogs. On weekends we always take him
with us when we go to the barn; Squish has an older, larger, four-legged,
equine brother, Creggan. They touch noses and say their hellos! Squish loves
his hikes up in La Honda where my horse is.

When we first got Squish he was a happy little pup and remains so, the first
month we had him he was a little lethargic and still thin from being rescued
(if you are familiar with Squish you know he went through a LOT!). My vet
advised that I keep him under 15lbs because of his arthritis - but he is not
skinny, he is svelte! I get compliments all the time about what a nice
looking pug he is.

Last week Squish was diagnosed with epilepsy, luckily his seizures are so
infrequent that he is able to stay off medication so that his liver remains
healthy. He is totally off other medications and is supplemented with
natural joint supplements that are working fantastically for his arthritis.
The epilepsy may attribute to his deafness as well. Being deaf hasn't slowed
him down at all, he learned the signal for sit - thanks to his foster moms
and their pugs, he isn't startled by anything, AND he doesn't bark at
anything!

We love our little pug, and will forever. He is silly and his favorite
things to do are, of course eating, rough-housing with his stuffed moose,
going on long adventures, dining out at Amigos Grille in Ladera, and
cuddling on the sofa with the cashmere blanket my mom hand made (he has
claimed it as his own). Again thank you for this wonderful little soul; our
little Squishward.

Kind Regards,
Christina and Stefan

Ashley-Jolie

ashleyjolie.jpgAshley is now called Ashley-Jolie since she is such a beautiful girl! What a mouthful...but to see AJ run around very happily is a wonder to behold. She just turned 3 on March 23rd 2010 and she seems most content to be in the company of her Mom Terry or Grandma Lola as well. She loves to run out during the long bright early evenings and train on her long leash. We have been a family since July 2009 and looking forward to celebrating our first year together this summer. Her favorite treats are the small biscuit bones from Whole Foods, and she loves gnawing on all of her Nylabones. This precious little one is petite....12.5-13 pounds but continues to bring such joy to the lives of all who know her. AJ also loves to wear clothes and is quite the fashion plate and carries on the legacy of our beloved Chloe Lee of Montclair.

Ava

ava.JPGThis is Ava. My second adoption from PROS. The picture shows her waiting patiently while dinner is prepared. Ava has settled in nicely since she's been at her new home which has only been a couple of months. She has so much energy and is so fun to watch. She chases her tail regularly. As of yet, she hasn't caught it! My first adoptee, Arlo is also amused by her antics. Thanks again PROS for doing what you do!

Pugsley Champagne

Pugsley.jpgHi! I am Pugsley Champagne. I was adopted in 1999 from PROS. I have spent the last 11 years with my family in Nevada County. I love playing in the snow and doggy treats. Last year my humans adopted two new pugs, Bridgette and Gwen. I am still the most spoiled pug in the house and everyone caters to me. I have changed my human's lives and they all now love pugs. I will be adored for all of my years. Thank you PROS for finding me a forever home!

With love,
Pugsley Allan Champagne

Cookie

cookie.jpg
Cookie is doing great. We have moved to Tahoe and have been doing a lot of great hikes. Cookie loves the outdoors and really likes to play in the snow. She has really taken to training (especially since she is so motivated for treats). She gets to play every day with my parents' Labradoodle and they have forged quite a great friendship. I just took her in for her annual check-up and she is in great health and is maintaining a healthy weight of 15 lbs. We love her so much and have never been happier. Rachel and I are so fortunate to have found Pug Pros and would like to thank you so much for such a wonderful organization that has provided us with sich a gift to our family. I have attached some photos of Cooks that display her incredible personality.

I just wanted to update you on Gigi and tell you how blessed I am to have found her! She is just the perfect little angel and has just transitioned so well into the family! She loves her daily trips to my parents', aka her babysitters, and has been so amazing with my grandparents! They just love to see her, in fact my grandpa's lap is her favorite place to be when they are around! She is so gentle with them and even rides around with my grandpa is his scooter. It is so funny! I couldn't have asked for a better little girl and she has truly made my life much more rewarding.
Thank you,

carson_he.JPGI can't believe it's been over 2 weeks since we brought Carson home! Boy, time flies!

Carson is doing great! (I have to admit, we've been calling him "Noodle".) He's a really sweet little guy--very smart. He did great when we brought him home, though his tummy was a little upset. He's been great around our cat. We've got a set routine during the week. He goes to work with me. Everyone who meets him loves him.

I took him to my vet a couple of weeks ago and we set up a plan to combat his allergies and keep his bladder healthy. He's eating better than me! In addition to the fish oil you recommended, he gets coconut oil, cranberry extract, and probiotics added to his meals. We've been bathing him every week with Zymox shampoo. It was recommended by the vet. It not only smells really good, but it has enzymes that combat yeast and skin microbes.

We go out for walks twice a day, everyday. Unfortunately, the weather has made walking difficult. This stubborn puggie would rather stand in the pouring rain than actually get the walk over with!! I think he's finally realizing that it has to be done and the sooner we get it over with, the sooner we get indoors and dry!

The picture I took as part of a project I was participating in to help rescued dogs. It's called "The Flat Puglet Project." You can check it out at: www.flatpuglet.com

As you can see, I can go on and on. This little guy is settling in great. We just love him! Everyday, he does something new and wonderful. Thanks again for taking such great care of this sweet little boy. Feel free to email/call anytime!

Take care, Jennifer

Jaki

American River March 2010.jpgWe are up to our 6 month anniversary with Jaki (Olive) and we have had a blast. She is certainly a live-wire and has lived up to her Japanese name which means "little demon". I think she is really an alien from some strange pug planet. I have never heard a pug make such weird sounds- its almost as if she is trying to talk, She goes through a greeting ritual when I come home from work that consists of dragging herself on her belly but lifting her front paws way up as if to say "how", all the while wailing like a banshee. I should video it and post it on youtube!

She moved in as if she had always belonged here. Her only disappointment is that her sister gets to be "alpha". She has compensated, however...she plays the "cuteness" card for all it's worth! It didn't take long for her to figure that this family was right up her alley- going on hikes at the river, coffee and biscotti on Sundays, camping, and trips in the car for interesting treats. She claimed her spot in bed at night and guards it with her life. She sings soprano in the nightly snoring chorus.

I want to thank PROS for letting us have this wonderful little girl- I would say all 12 pounds of her but I think she's gained weight...(all those lattes and biscotti....)- she has become the light of our lives.

Brittany

brittany.jpgDear PROS - Gena, Jan, Jill H. and Sanjuana,

Tom and I would like to send our heartfelt appreciation to you and your phenomenal organization for the wonderful addition to our family, little Miss Brittany! We are over the moon with this precious puppy of a pug, and feel thrilled and blessed to start a new adventure with her.

Thank you to each of you for making all of this possible -- and in such an expedited fashion, too! Right from our first meeting with you at the adoption fair, we were tremendously impressed with every aspect of your organization -- from the wonderful volunteers to the little ones, who rely on its volunteers to be advocates for them. We were especially touched by Jill H., who took time from her very busy schedule to come to our home on a Friday night. Her professionalism was amazing, and her expression of condolences for out late, beloved CoCo Chanel blew us away.

And Sanjuana, Foster Mom to Brittany, what a wonderful woman! You could tell that Brittany was loved and well taken care of by her, because the darling pug had a sparkle in her eye and an extra spring in her step. I will always cherish the memory of Sanjauna's comment about saving Brittany through PROS: "We do it for Love!" God Bless her and ALL the volunteers.

The moment we saw Brittany, it was love at first sight. We are thankful that Crash, our pug could meet her. The first night we brought her home Brittany was so comfortable and very loving, She slept on our bed like she had been there before. NO Accidents. She is so well behaved. And she and Crash get along!

Thank you PROS! We are members for life. We are learning that rescuing a pug in need is so rewarding, and feel so lucky to be the ones to provide a forever home to this little angel.

Sincerely,

Tom & Anita

Tobias

Tobias2.JPG Tobias.JPG Dear PROS...

We wanted you to know that little Tobias is doing really well! Our older pug Bailey is enjoying his new little brother so much. We are grateful to have Tobias as a member of our family and wanted to thank you for bringing his sweet little spirit into our lives. He LOVES to give kisses and play. He is incredibly smart... and training has been a piece of cake. We look forward to having him with us for many years to come. He will certainly make life more fun and memorable! :D

Much love to the PROS!
Gina and Michael Burdette

PJ

pj.jpgPJ was adopted by Bill and Sharon Hilliard

Hi - Just thought I would give you an update on PJ. PJ has been with us for four months now and is doing great. PJ is the first male dog we have ever owned but given we had two other female dogs we thought it would be a good mix. What I did not realize about male dogs is they are very loving and affectionate. PJ is the sweetest dog ever and just loves to be on your lap or by your side. We are avid dog walkers for which PJ adapted to right away. PJ loves nothing more than to be cuddled up to Abigail [the pug]. Thank you so much for allowing PJ to be part of our lives.

Niles

niles.jpgNiles (now Huckleberry!) was adopted by Helene and Ryan Roylance

It has been almost four months since we've adopted Huckleberry (Niles), the three legged wonder dog. What an absolute joy he has become. He doesn't even notice our 3 cats (something we worried about at first), not even when one of them steals his doggie bed. Seeing him climb carefully into a kitty hammock is hillarious. He makes us laugh with his "raptor" yawn that sounds like a velociraptor, or the few times he had randomly, solemnly, lifted his head to howl. At what, we have NO idea. But it was adorable. I take him for a walk early in the morning before work, and he grunts with jolly excuberance the entire walk. He's thrilled to see us when we get home, he's happy to sit on a foot while we watch tv. Thank you so much for working with us to adopt him. He's made our home complete!

Zinn

Everything is going great. I'm not allergic to Zinn. All I had was a coincidental head cold combined with the terror of making a huge commitment to sharing my life and my bed with a little stranger. Every day we are less strange to one another. Her personality is revealing itself -- she's got a real stubborn streak. I was determined that she could sleep on my bed, but not under the covers and not right up in my face. Forgetaboutit. She just bulldozes her way under, then plasters herself right up against me, and that's that. Zinn doesn't hear well I don't think; she doesn't bark when someone comes to the door. Then when the visitor actually enters, she still doesn't bark, but she's very warm and cordial to all visitors. She just loves attention from any and everyone who will bestow it on her. She's a good eater, but not crazed and obsessive about food (like my previous pug, Bubba). She's just sweetness itself. We enjoy our daily walks and car rides, and we are preparing to take our first long car trip together to L.A. and Las Vegas over the Christmas holiday to visit friends. I'm attaching a couple of cute pictures of her -- one is taken on the cushion that is next to my desk, which is where she likes to lie when I'm at my computer, and the other where she's draped across the back of the sofa (she likes to be high up where she can observe the whole room). You are responsible for all this wonderfulness. I probably wouldn't have pursued the project if you hadn't encouraged and supported me so well.

Thank you and Merry Christmas, Kathy and Zinn

Homer

We are happy to have Homer as a new member of our family. He has been with us for about 2 months now. His days are filled with walks, car rides, and trips to the horse barn. He's still not sure exactly what a horse is, but he is getting used to them. He is busy guarding his new home and his new family. We are thankful to have him.

Dean, Lissa, Cooper and Cara Sivara.

Sunny

It's now been 3 months since we adopted Sunny, our 5th rescue pug. We lost Mr. Lucky suddenly in June and Trevor became lonely, he needed a friend. She is quite a feisty little girl! In a good way. She's the youngest pug we've had in a while and has really brought energy to the house. As soon as she got here she made herself right at home, on our laps and on the couch. She really loves her toys and hanging with her new big brother. It feels like she's been here all along. That's Sunny on the left and Trevor on the right.

Thanks for another great pug! Dan, Gary, and Trevor

Tink

There is so much of Tink to love! Her energy has amazed our whole family. She loves to snuggle on the couch but it's clear the kitchen is her favorite room in the house. Her first bath was so much fun with her brothers, Beans and Mick. Beans and Tink get into a kissing frenzy a few times a day, then she lets him know when it's her time for tummy rubs. Tink loves going for rides in the car, walks and today was very special with a trip to the dog park. Our new girl is a joy, joy, joy!! Tink is taking notes on her favorite TV show, "The Biggest Loser", and when she downsizes to her ideal weight we will send in a new photo. A perfect Happy Ending for Tink and our whole family.

Owen

Hello, It has been almost a year from when we brought Owen home and it feels like he has been a part of our home forever. From the day we drove off with him, and he just laid his head on my lap and fell asleep, I knew he was one of us! He is so sweet and loving and follows me everywhere. My 6 year old daughter just loves him to death. He even sleeps under the covers with us at night, and spends the day snoring, sunning and playing chase with our other dog. I want to Thank you for what you all do for the pugs and for bringning him into our lives. And thank you Troy for taking great care of him before he became ours:) We will be back for our next pug once we are ready:)

Mushu

It's been nearly 4 months since we adopted Mushu (formerly George). It seems like he's been a part of our family much longer! He has really settled in. Everyday he brings us new joy. It's been a real pleasure witnessing his personality emerge. He's such a delightful, loving little boy. He and his new kitty brother, Jake, are amazing together. They're thick as theives!! I think Jake loves having a dog that's about his size and will actually play with him. The two of them run, thundering, through the house. Too cute! The whole adoption process was amazing. Everyone we dealt with from PROS was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and supportive. My husband and I are so glad we chose to "rescue" a pug. I won't be surprised if we come back to find Mu a loving sibling to welcome into our family.

Thank you so much for all you do! Jennifer Voorhees

Kirby

A huge thank you to PROS for your help with getting a fabulous pug. You guys really listened to what we were looking for and helped us find a perfect fit. Kirby (nee Ronnie) is such a sweetie and he's fit into our household with our other pets with surprising ease. Having adopted from another rescue center, I was amazed at the difference getting a dog from a foster environment. He was so much more relaxed, even though a puppy. Your whole team was great, from Linda, Kristi to Jan. I wish others the same luck we had! Noel Perkins and family

Bodi

Hello! Just wanted to let everyone know how Bodi is doing. Hes so sweet and loved very much! Its been 5 months now since I adopted him and hes a happy boy. He has learned a whole routine of new tricks. He is such a fast learner! I tried to teach him to "play dead" but he wiggles so much that I changed it to "break dance!" Its my favorite. Hes a pretty mellow little guy, but from time to time he gets so excited he just starts tearing around the house. He cracks me up! Also, whenever there are guys around he likes to hang with the dudes! I call him a mans man..so funny. My family loves him alot too! They have given him more silly nicknames than i can count.

Thank you for letting him be a part of my life! :) Kelley McAdon

Molly

To Molly Maloney (Keau's foster mom)- It has been several years since I spoke with you. You changed the life of my pug. Her name was Keau (Hawaiin Kay). I named her "Molly" in honor of you. I have attached a photo of her for your pleasure. She is the one furthest to the right with her head up. Anyway, we love her so much. She is the best dog, and every day I think about where she might be if I had not applied at Pug Rescue and you had not contacted me to let us know you had her. She had been abused when we got her. After several months I gained her trust. She sleeps on my pillow every night, snoring away. She is happy, healthy and just a love. Thank you for all you did and continue doing to help animals.

Warmest Regards, Jason Krane

Ivy

Hello All - I wanted to give you an update on Ivy (formerly Bonnie). Ivy was one of six puppies found at Animal Control in San Francisco. She has a very strong personality and likes to take on things head first; but has developed into a very sweet cuddly sweetheart and she absolutely adores our six year old son Kenny. She keeps our older six year old pug, Benito, on his toes and he's more fit because of her. We spend a lot of time on long walks; she is a natural digger goes completely wild happy running at the beach or in a sandbox.

Pola

Hi! My name is Pola (formerly Paula). And am I happy! Can't you just tell? I've just moved to a 'forever home' - this picture of me was taken when I was all dressed up and ready to go. I had such a wonderful foster home before I came here, with a pug family, too. But now I'm in a place that's my very own. I have a little round pink bed, special just for me - and cute little fluffy toys to play with. I've got a brand new parakeet friend. She can fly! Sure wish I could do that. But I can go on walks and check out my new neighborhood; in fact, I act as if I own it already. I live on the 4th floor of a tall building with big, big windows. I can put my paws up on the windowsill and look out at the tree tops and all the birds. Sometimes I like to look down and watch everything going on, and I can even bark at it all if I want to. I'm having lots of fun. My new pug mom says I'm a 'luv of a pug'. And she says that PugPros is so wonderful . . . she uses some words I don't quite understand like 'Burghtorganized' and 'devoted'. Not sure what that means, but it sounds very good. She tells me that PugPros is the best. And I agree! 'Thanks for everything!

Amigo

I just wanted to let you know that Amigo is doing well in Sacramento. The attached photo was taken after an hour at the dog park that is in our condo complex. He is such a charming fellow and he's made quite a few friends here. In fact, there is a cute "older lady", a blind manchester terrier, that has taken quite a fancy to Amigo. The play, circle around each other, nipping at ears. It is so cute. Amigo loves his monthly grooming at Petco. My daughter considers him a "metrosexual" guy that enjoys the shampoo and conditioning treatments, the smell-good stuff that makes him strut out of the shop and thru the parking lot. He really is a kick. He spent a week in Fresno with my two daughters while I traveled to Washington DC. They discovered that he likes to settle down in the evening with the lights off, candles lit, and his bed next to the TV (this is really true). He does it at home, too. He was happy to be with them for the week and they missed him very much after he left. His hip still gives him problems but I found a wonderful vet at Abel Pet Clinic where he has been seen to get refills on his anti-inflammatory meds. The clinic was listed on the rescue site and I will highly recommend them to any pug owners. I am so fortunate to have adopted him.

Thanks! Penny Renaud

Gizmo

Hi Helena, We are doing great. Everyday I wonder how someone could have given him up. He has such a great personality and he is so entertaining. We laugh at him constantly. My older son is coming home this weekend and he can't wait to meet Gizmo. I've been calling him macho...he marches around here like he owns the place. His bow legged prance just cracks me up. My plan was to have him sleep with Alex, that didn't work out. He does not leave my side. He sleeps between my legs, at 6am he goes up to my head and actually sits on my head! I have washed both my hair and pillowcase more than I ever have before. From then everything I do is with Gizmo and I mean everything! I just adore our little man!! We have been in the backyard alot. So far he has not even looked for a place to escape, I think he knows how good he's got it!

Arlo

A follow up to let you know how well I'm doing. This is a picture of me sunning myself. In the winter around 10:00 AM the sun comes in at just the right angle on the sofa. I am a true sun worshiper! I now live on 5 acres and love to bark at the deer. My name used to be Mr. Bogangles but now I'm Arlo. Thank you PROS for all the good work you do! Fondly, Martha Jones and Arlo

Chica

We are enjoying our funny, lovable, cuddly, devoted little "Cheeka". We got "Cheeka" when my daughter was diagnosed with cancer. All my daughter wanted was a pug to help comfort and get her through the treatment. I never could of imagined the happiness, fun, and laughter we are now having because of that decision we made. Thank you again PROS for making this happen.

The Carlos Family

Bailey

Hi Linda, Mike and I just want to thank you and pug pros for giving us a great gift: Bailey. She is doing very well with us. Bailey is very sweet, loving, and has quite a personality! She makes us laugh everyday. Everyone who met her just falls in love with her! Please let everyone else at Pug Pros of the update. We are very grateful to have Bailey in our life! Thank you Pug PROS!!

Brandon

Brandon and I are having a love fest. He is a really great dog and we have gotten used to each other and our "set in" ways:)...At the moment he is asleep in the sun(or was before the doorbell rang). He is wonderful at night, quiet , calm and cozy..He prefers a small down comforter instead of a blanket ...Oh my! He is gobbling his kibble and looks forward to his treats of a little yogurt, a carrot stick or some sweet potato. We go for a long walk in the morning . He sets the pace, so I get a good work-out too. I leave him for about half an hour in the morning or afternoon to shop and get him used to my comings and goings. He is an amazing escape artist. I have gates up which he can knock down no matter how heavily they are braced..He is able to push open the heavy swinging door into the dining room, so at the moment, there is no way to keep him from getting the run of the house. I will get permanent gates. I have hesitated to crate him.... He doesn't bark immediately when I leave, but I do hear him on my return. He sounds very mild compared to the two screaming yappers next door. Starting in March we will have a series of obedience lessons from Mike Wombacher, a super duper trainer. I am reading his book now so that I will have a head start on the procedures. Brandon is such a dear little dog and so loving and easy to care for..I doubt that there will be any problems as far a training goes. He has started playing with me..I get on all fours and pounce at him and he tears around like a maniac and then pounces back. I am getting lots of exercise. We send our love....Brandon and Margaret ..woofwoof

Poppy

Poppy is SO adorable & so smart and so soft, she's doing very well we think. They play like there's no tomorrow, and we think maybe Cork is being too strong on occasion but then she comes back for more and pounds on him. Who's play'n who? It feels like she's been with us from the start and she's adapting so well. She's sleeping with us and potty training is pretty good so far. It's a go when you feel kinda thing, whether inside or not, and not much unlike my mothers pugs in the past. They are just stubborn, so you bring them out and wait. She will then smell the ground and go (we give praise and cookies then). If she has to go that is. And that is the million dollar question, does she have to go or not and is she conscious of it? We've only had 2 mistakes. Well, actually 3 but one was on the way outside on her own, so we give her credit for being in that direction. A few times Cork goes and she observes and goes too. The point is, she is GREAT and so thank you very much. Here's a few pics!

Thanks so much again and we'll hear from you soon, Whit & Michiko

Angel

Just a quick note to let you know that Angel is doing beautifully In adjusting to her new home. First night was a piece of cake, she slept with my daughter (yes, IN her bed not at the end :). Right now she is lying on my feet at the computer. It is weird how the universe works; she fit in so easily it is like she was just meant to be here. Our whole family and Elvis of course, just love her! She is like our Mollie in some ways. My daughter and I started a walking and weight plan for her today. Goal is to make the weight loss not too hard on her, maybe two pounds a month to be at 25 lbs in 6 months. Thank you so much for fostering so we could find her!
