Steve Elgin and Jason Visperas adopted Buddy
We learned of Pros Pug Rescue back in December 2012 through Facebook. As we looked at all of the available pugs for adoption and already having 2 pugs since puppies, currently, both are 4 years old and are brother and sister. We decided to go to the adoption event in Roseville in February, though there were several beautiful and gorgeous available pugs for adoption; we didn't feel the right connection. The next day, we had gone to the adoption event in Concord, as we walked in we saw Buddy, instantly we felt the connection and fell in love with him. Buddy is now home with his new brother Keoni and sister Malia. They are best "Buds" and are having so much fun being together. Buddy enjoys when we all go for a walk and everyone who pets Buddy can't believe how sweet and gentle he is. We are so proud Buddy loves the attention. Thank you Pros Pug Rescue because without you, we would not have been able to meet and fall in love with our wonderful Buddy.
On a separate note: Thank you Angela Perez for being Buddy's foster mom and taking good care of him. Thank you Jan Grover for always keeping us updated with Buddy's progress while in foster care. We appreciate all you have done.
Sincerely,
Jason Visperas & Steve Elgin
Sissy was adopted by Liz Margerum
Here is a pic of our two pugs, both of which we rescued over the last 10 months, Homer and Ripley. We just rescued Ripley 3 weeks ago.
I know it's been a long time since you've heard from us, and as you might have guessed it OMAR'S BIRTHDAY! A little update: I can't remember if I told you and I'm so sorry that I didn't, Omar had surgery on December nothing big no worries. Omar had some bad plaque build up so we took him to the ASPCA and he had an in and out surgery with a few teeth removed. It went without a hitch he did better than I did I'll tell you that. It was the worst feeling in the world to have my lovies in surgery and I hope I'll never have to do it again. the Vet tough me how to brush his teeth properly and things are going well in that department.
Everything is going great. I'm not allergic to Zinn. All I had was a coincidental head cold combined with the terror of making a huge commitment to sharing my life and my bed with a little stranger. Every day we are less strange to one another. Her personality is revealing itself -- she's got a real stubborn streak. I was determined that she could sleep on my bed, but not under the covers and not right up in my face. Forgetaboutit. She just bulldozes her way under, then plasters herself right up against me, and that's that. Zinn doesn't hear well I don't think; she doesn't bark when someone comes to the door. Then when the visitor actually enters, she still doesn't bark, but she's very warm and cordial to all visitors. She just loves attention from any and everyone who will bestow it on her. She's a good eater, but not crazed and obsessive about food (like my previous pug, Bubba). She's just sweetness itself. We enjoy our daily walks and car rides, and we are preparing to take our first long car trip together to L.A. and Las Vegas over the Christmas holiday to visit friends. I'm attaching a couple of cute pictures of her -- one is taken on the cushion that is next to my desk, which is where she likes to lie when I'm at my computer, and the other where she's draped across the back of the sofa (she likes to be high up where she can observe the whole room). You are responsible for all this wonderfulness. I probably wouldn't have pursued the project if you hadn't encouraged and supported me so well.
We are happy to have Homer as a new member of our family. He has been with us for about 2 months now. His days are filled with walks, car rides, and trips to the horse barn. He's still not sure exactly what a horse is, but he is getting used to them. He is busy guarding his new home and his new family. We are thankful to have him.
It's now been 3 months since we adopted Sunny, our 5th rescue pug. We lost Mr. Lucky suddenly in June and Trevor became lonely, he needed a friend. She is quite a feisty little girl! In a good way. She's the youngest pug we've had in a while and has really brought energy to the house. As soon as she got here she made herself right at home, on our laps and on the couch. She really loves her toys and hanging with her new big brother. It feels like she's been here all along. That's Sunny on the left and Trevor on the right.
There is so much of Tink to love! Her energy has amazed our whole family. She loves to snuggle on the couch but it's clear the kitchen is her favorite room in the house. Her first bath was so much fun with her brothers, Beans and Mick. Beans and Tink get into a kissing frenzy a few times a day, then she lets him know when it's her time for tummy rubs. Tink loves going for rides in the car, walks and today was very special with a trip to the dog park. Our new girl is a joy, joy, joy!! Tink is taking notes on her favorite TV show, "The Biggest Loser", and when she downsizes to her ideal weight we will send in a new photo. A perfect Happy Ending for Tink and our whole family.
Hello, It has been almost a year from when we brought Owen home and it feels like he has been a part of our home forever. From the day we drove off with him, and he just laid his head on my lap and fell asleep, I knew he was one of us! He is so sweet and loving and follows me everywhere. My 6 year old daughter just loves him to death. He even sleeps under the covers with us at night, and spends the day snoring, sunning and playing chase with our other dog. I want to Thank you for what you all do for the pugs and for bringning him into our lives. And thank you Troy for taking great care of him before he became ours:) We will be back for our next pug once we are ready:)
To Molly Maloney (Keau's foster mom)- It has been several years since I spoke with you. You changed the life of my pug. Her name was Keau (Hawaiin Kay). I named her "Molly" in honor of you. I have attached a photo of her for your pleasure. She is the one furthest to the right with her head up. Anyway, we love her so much. She is the best dog, and every day I think about where she might be if I had not applied at Pug Rescue and you had not contacted me to let us know you had her. She had been abused when we got her. After several months I gained her trust. She sleeps on my pillow every night, snoring away. She is happy, healthy and just a love. Thank you for all you did and continue doing to help animals.
Hello All - I wanted to give you an update on Ivy (formerly Bonnie). Ivy was one of six puppies found at Animal Control in San Francisco. She has a very strong personality and likes to take on things head first; but has developed into a very sweet cuddly sweetheart and she absolutely adores our six year old son Kenny. She keeps our older six year old pug, Benito, on his toes and he's more fit because of her. We spend a lot of time on long walks; she is a natural digger goes completely wild happy running at the beach or in a sandbox.
I just wanted to let you know that Amigo is doing well in Sacramento. The attached photo was taken after an hour at the dog park that is in our condo complex. He is such a charming fellow and he's made quite a few friends here. In fact, there is a cute "older lady", a blind manchester terrier, that has taken quite a fancy to Amigo. The play, circle around each other, nipping at ears. It is so cute. Amigo loves his monthly grooming at Petco. My daughter considers him a "metrosexual" guy that enjoys the shampoo and conditioning treatments, the smell-good stuff that makes him strut out of the shop and thru the parking lot. He really is a kick. He spent a week in Fresno with my two daughters while I traveled to Washington DC. They discovered that he likes to settle down in the evening with the lights off, candles lit, and his bed next to the TV (this is really true). He does it at home, too. He was happy to be with them for the week and they missed him very much after he left. His hip still gives him problems but I found a wonderful vet at Abel Pet Clinic where he has been seen to get refills on his anti-inflammatory meds. The clinic was listed on the rescue site and I will highly recommend them to any pug owners. I am so fortunate to have adopted him.
A follow up to let you know how well I'm doing. This is a picture of me sunning myself. In the winter around 10:00 AM the sun comes in at just the right angle on the sofa. I am a true sun worshiper! I now live on 5 acres and love to bark at the deer. My name used to be Mr. Bogangles but now I'm Arlo. Thank you PROS for all the good work you do! Fondly, Martha Jones and Arlo
Hi Linda, Mike and I just want to thank you and pug pros for giving us a great gift: Bailey. She is doing very well with us. Bailey is very sweet, loving, and has quite a personality! She makes us laugh everyday. Everyone who met her just falls in love with her! Please let everyone else at Pug Pros of the update. We are very grateful to have Bailey in our life! Thank you Pug PROS!!
Brandon and I are having a love fest. He is a really great dog and we have gotten used to each other and our "set in" ways:)...At the moment he is asleep in the sun(or was before the doorbell rang). He is wonderful at night, quiet , calm and cozy..He prefers a small down comforter instead of a blanket ...Oh my! He is gobbling his kibble and looks forward to his treats of a little yogurt, a carrot stick or some sweet potato. We go for a long walk in the morning . He sets the pace, so I get a good work-out too. I leave him for about half an hour in the morning or afternoon to shop and get him used to my comings and goings. He is an amazing escape artist. I have gates up which he can knock down no matter how heavily they are braced..He is able to push open the heavy swinging door into the dining room, so at the moment, there is no way to keep him from getting the run of the house. I will get permanent gates. I have hesitated to crate him.... He doesn't bark immediately when I leave, but I do hear him on my return. He sounds very mild compared to the two screaming yappers next door. Starting in March we will have a series of obedience lessons from Mike Wombacher, a super duper trainer. I am reading his book now so that I will have a head start on the procedures. Brandon is such a dear little dog and so loving and easy to care for..I doubt that there will be any problems as far a training goes. He has started playing with me..I get on all fours and pounce at him and he tears around like a maniac and then pounces back. I am getting lots of exercise. We send our love....Brandon and Margaret ..woofwoof
Poppy is SO adorable & so smart and so soft, she's doing very well we think. They play like there's no tomorrow, and we think maybe Cork is being too strong on occasion but then she comes back for more and pounds on him. Who's play'n who? It feels like she's been with us from the start and she's adapting so well. She's sleeping with us and potty training is pretty good so far. It's a go when you feel kinda thing, whether inside or not, and not much unlike my mothers pugs in the past. They are just stubborn, so you bring them out and wait. She will then smell the ground and go (we give praise and cookies then). If she has to go that is. And that is the million dollar question, does she have to go or not and is she conscious of it? We've only had 2 mistakes. Well, actually 3 but one was on the way outside on her own, so we give her credit for being in that direction. A few times Cork goes and she observes and goes too. The point is, she is GREAT and so thank you very much. Here's a few pics!
Just a quick note to let you know that Angel is doing beautifully In adjusting to her new home. First night was a piece of cake, she slept with my daughter (yes, IN her bed not at the end :). Right now she is lying on my feet at the computer. It is weird how the universe works; she fit in so easily it is like she was just meant to be here. Our whole family and Elvis of course, just love her! She is like our Mollie in some ways. My daughter and I started a walking and weight plan for her today. Goal is to make the weight loss not too hard on her, maybe two pounds a month to be at 25 lbs in 6 months. Thank you so much for fostering so we could find her!
